In my opinion 29ers are not always the "best" option when buying a mountain bike. If someone is buying a hardtail then the benefits of the 29er make it a great option. But when it comes to FS bikes I think 26 vs 29 is more rider preference than anything else. I've had both 26 and 29 FS bikes and they both have distinct advantages.
26 Pros: More nimble, feels better in the air, doesn't feel as tall with a big fork
29 Pros: Gives that monster truck feel while riding over stuff, more in the middle of the bike instead on top of it

    Sorry if seems like I am on my soapbox. The shop I work at doesn't even stock any 26" bikes. In their minds the only option is the big wheels. I refuse to drink the koolaid! :}

I agree, it's all rider preference. Everyone is different as well. I came from a specialized 26 FS bike and I did not like the specialized 29er compared to the trek. I was really surprised when my wife liked Riding the women's specific trek 29er so that was the one we bought her.

anyone upgrade rotors yet? i am running 160mm and thinkin about moving up to 180mm. wondering if anyone has done something like this and whether or not you actually noticed a difference?

i think the only time i would notice a difference is when i head to the mtn for downhill seems how you abuse the brake the most there..it should help slow down the heating up of the brakes which should lengthen my quality braking..

running avid juicy 7 setup right now..

I think a 180mm up front is a good idea if you do any aggressive riding at all. I upgraded to a 203mm before going to Moab and it was overkill. I love my Juicy 5 and 7s. typically all you should need is a different adapter for the caliper mount and the rotor and get a bleed kit while youre at it.

    This^^^^^^

Visually, proportions are important. It's like a LBD 4wd needs 285s to look good (some 265 setups work).
29ers are perfect for the over6' crowd

today my friend and I went to a Trek Demo day and my friend tried a 2012 Rumblefish and he said he loved it. he loved how he was able to just plow over things haha. although he gave it such great review i still think i would prefer 26" fs as well but would definitely add a 29er of any kind if i had the dough haha...

ill post some pics of the bikes we rode in a few

edit: here are some pics...no action shots though

I rode the Remedy Carbon and the Slash 9...both sick bikes. i liked the slash a lot but it was too stiff. idk if that was from the shock having too much air or the compression or what. it wasnt the propedal either i made sure haha. i definitely see myself on one of these in the future

    Yeah.
Took a road trip over to Indiana last weekend for a couple of days at Brown County State Park. Great trails there, we logged over 50 miles in a couple of days. Here's an example of the trails:

Awesome vid TB! Was that a Mavic hub I was hearing?
My brother rode there a couple weeks ago and agreed it was an amazing system.
Any plans to hit up Berryman or Syllamo this fall?
