I've got a 12 SJ FSR. I have about 500 miles on it in the 2 months I've had it. Other than a bad rear hub that was replaced under warranty, the bike has been fantastic. Very smooth downhill and it climbs like a goat. It is leaps and bounds better than my 06 Enduro it replaced.

Went on my first real ride today in a year and a half after my surgery last year (my first ride this year was cut short). It was awesome, even if I did ride like crap. Took me the first half of the ride to feel normal. After that, it was just dragging the surgery weight I haven't lost yet. I kept banging my pedal on my 29'er Stumpjumper, so I figured it was because of the sag. Then I realized it was...the sag in the ass of my shorts! Even though I was tracking my heart rate by listening to it pound in my ears, it was awesome! Slow...but awesome! Couple of climbs, falling trees, but nothing major. Walked a lot of stuff I haven't walked in years, but just to be on Stumpy felt like a gift. It's amazing what a year of being made to sit will do to your outlook!

One thing I have to say though...we passed a couple of guys, and one was chatty, and the other just gave us a look like he was too cool for us. I'm finding that more and more. When I started riding, one of the coolest thing was how friendly everyone was. Always a "Hey, have a good ride", or "Nice ride!", or even a look in the eyes and a "How's it going?" I'm finding more and more people acting like douches when they get on their bikes. I remember telling my nephew when he was 12, "When you see someone on the trail, you ALWAYS make eye contact and say hi. Even if they act like a douche. It might be because they got buzzed by the other jerks on the trail, or maybe they're just douches. But it's up to you to make sure that people see mountain bikers as friendly people, so they don't shut the trails down on us." I think it's something that we should all strive for. I've seen what happens in the areas where the riders don't get along with the other users, and I don't want that to happen where I ride.

Lmao wow! I love how the kid is just kinda standing there with no shoes.
most hikers are rediculous. I almost hit a little kid one time because he ran out in front of me right as i went by. then the mom yelled at me

    Sold my Tacoma
Just bought a Tacoma, joined this forum, and found this thread. Been an avid biker for a while. Broke my collarbone in late June riding DH, so I've been out of commission. Used my free time to build a truck bed rack. Will be nice not taking the front wheels off my bikes.

Ha ha ha! Those angry ass hikers would be in violation of the law here. 6' leash means no flexible leashes.

    Bunch of hippies.

You just need to read the last paragraph. I think that's what it really boils down to. Courtesy. You try to do the best you can but there are always those who insist they're in the right of way or like the example video, people are walking their dogs on flexible leads and not paying attention to other trail users then they get pissed off when someone comes down the trail on a bike (I'm sure they'd be as pissed off with a runner).

I know what I'm about to type is controversial but I'd rather not share in some instances. I'd also prefer to see some trails as one-way. Both of these lead to fewer confrontations. And around here, there are more than enough trails to make something like that work-though it will never happen because as soon as you do that, the horse owners and hikers will complain (heck, horses leave massive amounts of shit/piss on the trails but they don't need to pickup it up. Dog walkers, on the other hand, must pack their it out-that should tell you who has the power).

Until then, we share and try to be as courteous as is possible.
