What is your exercise routine for ? Sorry I may have missed that but I was just wondering. I would try to bring mt biking into my exercise routine but I am as worried about stamina as I am strength. Does anyone know if they make a setup to turn your bike into a stationary bike so I could ride in the house?

The bike was ridden once, it is a 2011. The bike shop is selling it, they had his regular race bike and they didnt finish it in time for a race so they gave him this bike which he raced then brought back . They are saying its a demo bike. You can tell that it is in good shape.

I think it is a good deal as well. It is a tough decision right now, I will be thinking hard for the next couple of days. I will try to talk to the bike shop guys to see if they can help me a bit.... we will see. I am feeling good about the price, and I dont think I could beat it especially the way the bike is set up, which only makes it harder to pass up.

I'm planning on doing a series of 6 hr MTB races next Spring, doing power based lifts helps with endurance. My goal is to get into cycling shape and build lean muscle.

You can get trainers but those are for road bikes

That is cool, def will be in good shape. I would love to race again. So those trainers won't fit a mt bike? Do you think it would fit a thin tired cruiser style hybrid bike that my wife has???

I will check and get all of the details tomorrow or Thursday hopefully. So basically if it is SRAM XX, they are really good components? Again this is a difficult decision and nothing seems to be making this any easier.

Never mind they do work with MTB tires, but you will have to run a slick tire to use it

    http://www.jensonusa.com/Rear-Wheel-Trainers/Blackburn-Tech-Mag-6-Magnetic-Trainer

Honestly they are great for warming up for a race and that's about it IMO

Riding will be more beneficial because it will give you more of a real world workout rather than a static speed.

I did one a couple of years ago and I cleared 50 miles in 5:37. My goal is to beat that distance.

I'm planning on doing two 6 Hr races, a Urban Assault Crit, and a "Trail to Trail race" (1 10 mile trail loop- 35 mile road loop- 10 mile trail loop)

I used to race road bike for USF's Cycling team, but to many close calls made me choose MTB racing instead

My wifes tires are not really slicks but they should do. I was thinking that it would be a good exercise for her to do low impact and she can ride the bike for hours while watching tv or doing work. I was actually thinking about buying a stationary bike but just wanted a cheaper version for the house. We are eventually going to set up 2 of the garages as an exercise room but that wont be for a while. Thanks for the info on trainers, going to check it out now.

I raced the 6 hours of el legarto a few years ago. My first mtb race. Did it as a 3 man team, not solo, thinking it would be cake. I was still destroyed afterwards and I only did 3 laps.

I've yet to check out the Urban Crit in Lakeland but I hear its awesome.

I wanted to do it its first year, but I completely forgot about it. I used to do some Urban Assault "training" around USF's campus

Orlando has a pretty good urban Assault group. They've been riding two days a week for over 15 years. I've only been doing it off and on for a few years . Both nights cover 20-30 miles but one night is twice as fast and just a blazing pace. If I don't ride my hard tail I can't keep up. One of the guys is pretty well known for winning a bunch of 24 hour mtb races back in the day. I've seen him lead out 50 deep roadies on his full suspension bike like it's nothing.

If you're ever in orlando on a Tuesday night hit me up. The Tuesday urban ride is nice. It's the slower one but more fun in my opinion. More stairs, ditches, parking garage sprints, etc.

As for that stump fsr, I have the 29er version. I know there were some minor problems with the front derailleur not working well with the 2x10 setup so most shops upgraded the original front derailleur. Maybe yours just made it a matching set? $1300 for that bike is a great price.

man i wanted to race this year but our Cycling Team here is so disorganized, hopefully we can get it together this year. My school used to be good back about 6 years ago I guess, the former president of our club works in the shop now and the guys at the group ride last week said he was really good.

Hopefully i can race in the summer and next fall but I still need to get a racing license. Plus my bike is not set up to do any kind of XC racing haha, i would definetly be the only guy with a 5" bike and 2.4in tire hahaha

Those downtown rides sound a bit like Bike Party is here (www.sjbikeparty.org). There are usually over 1000 riders and it can get a bit crazy-the routes are always 20+ miles and pretty casual. Lots of peeps tow trailers with phat stereos on them too.

    It's an experience :D
