I used to take these local kids out riding when they were 12-14 years old. They would hang around the bike shop where I worked during summers. I showed them trails, drove them to ride DH at ski areas, and basically taught them to be decent kids. Now they're in their 20's and I'm in my 40's, but we still ride together sometimes. This is one of many videos they've made.

Ok I am excited, I got the bike. 2011 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp, I pick it up the end of next month. I know that I just got the bike but I am always pushing everything and need to have the biggest,baddest,best........ what upgrades would you guys do to that bike? I have been out of the bike scene since I bought my first real mt bike which I still have Cannondale Killer V 900. I got that bike in 1995 put a front shock on it, cut the handle bars about 3", cut the seat post about 3 inches..... etc etc......... Any help will be appreaciated. I think that it already has an upgraded handle bar. The bike shop has a carbon fiber handle bar on sale from $160 to $50........ I am thinking about that......... shh dont tell the wife. Honestly I would be happy with the bike stock so I am just looking around a bit. Thanks for any help guys!!!!

carbon bars for that price sound like a sweet deal too. do you know what bars?

as far as other upgrades, you said it has XX der so that doesnt need an upgrade haha. do you know if its got the whole XX group? brakes, cranks, front/rear derailleur? either way its probably fine for now. the only thing i could really think of are tires and wheelset depending on what you plan to ride. maybe tubeless conversion.

It does seem like a good deal for the bars. I was at the bike shop yesterday and didnt even think to look at the components. I am 99% sure the rear derailleur is XX but not 100%. I will have to check into that. I have been looking around a bit for some upgrades. I am sure the whole bike setup is fine. I might just wait until the end of next season to buy whatever I think I need to upgrade.

yeah im sure if it has XX it probably has other upgrades. either way even a stock stumpy is probably good enough to get back into riding. Once you figure out what type of riding your going to be doing you can choose parts that will compliment your riding better.

    Yeah.
Probably don't need to touch it. Wide bars are now the thing, and I find them much less squirrelly than the old narrow style, don't go cutting them down!

I would do ODI Ruffian lock-ons and maybe a dropper seat-post and call it done.
