Both look good. Is tubeless really a good mod, what are the pros and cons? Thanks, just wondering.....

Well I was getting pinch flats about once a week running tubes so I was forced to run a higher air pressure. With tubeless there are no tubes to pinch flat so you can run a lower air pressure(better traction). Also without tubes your tire settup is lighter. Downside is if you do lose air with tubeless on the trail (doesnt happen alot I have heard), you need a CO2 cartridge to seat the bead again. Also putting the tires on you need a compressor to seat the bead unless you are skilled.

If I am missing anything please feel free to chime in.

I would never be able to keep them seated then!!!

    Yeah.
I run both of my bikes tubeless now and have been able to drop the pressure from 40 psi tubed down to 30 front and 32 rear. Much better traction, and I have yet to burp them on the trail.

I used the DT Swiss kit and fluid on my first set (they are DT Swiss rims so I had to buy the kit), and the fluid is great but WAY too expensive (~$45 PER TIRE!), so I switched to Stans now. So far I have had no puncture flats, but I did cut the sidewall on a brand-new tire. That would have flatted a tubed tire as well, though.

I still carry a spare tube or two on rides just in case. Need to remember to carry some tire boots as well.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
    All that.

And worse case scenario, if you puncture in the middle of a ride, just carry a spare tube and a pump to get you to the end of the ride and deal with redoing the sealant later.

Tubeless is much lighter and the fact that you'll never pinch weld is worth the effort in conversion. Lighter rolling wheel weight = more responsive bike on climbs, turning, and let's your suspension do it's job better.

Tubeless and loving it! Will never go back. I've had one flat over the last year and that was my fault for not refreshing the goop.

Edit: on Porc Rim in the rain nonetheless.

    Yeah.
I converted my 26er to tubeless first and was so happy with it I converted my 29er before the old tires were even worn out. I love it, no problems at all.

Tubeless is great if u use it correctly iv used it for 4 years becuz i got sick of flats whith tubes i have only had one tubless fail in thoes 4 years and that was that video i posted where i blew up my wheel, i personaly run it front and back alot of people will only run it in front becuz of burping air in the back, if ur running either a tubless rim or tire it will almost always work good but a tubless tire and rim helps alot. Make sure to never use a tire to big for the wheel i was running a 2.5 tire that wasnt a tubless tire on a tiny ass 21mm wheel. By far best DH hoop for tubless are the mavic 823 and there the strongest too there not drilled all the way thru eiter so u dont need to tape the wheel. Tubless fluid isnt a big deal stans is the best deal alot of people tho dont even use fluid when doing theres its just kinda a safty proceedure against burping air so not woth spending tons on it

bone stock save for the block lift that came on it with the open country m/t.
Have done a couple tubeless conversions (both ghetto tubeless) and I liked it quite a bit. Bought a new set of rims and just haven't gotten around to it, but we getting ready to ride today, and a guy was coming back from the trail with a flat. He told us " I like walking in the morning" needless to say, I need to do it again, just being lazy. Off all next week, so I will have time then.

did you get the new stumpy fsr or something else?
look at a trek, specialized, giant, etc. those are going to be better quality than walmart bikes. if you can check out a bike shop. try that but be careful because some definetely just want to sell a bike and not really care. most i have been to actually want to help you out though

just make sure it fits well and your not cramped or stretched out. usually if it has an air fork it is better also.

I bought a giant revel 1 in the spring for $550. Pretty decent bike. I'm 5' 9" 170 lbs and the only complaint was the fork isn't great if you ride aggressively. I got a decent rock shox fork for about $170 and $6 grips (stock ones suck). Overall I'm pretty happy with the bike.
