Wow $72 for a chain? I would hope that was installed and the bike cleaned for you as well.

It's time to do some fix'in learn'in. You should own a multi tool w/ a chain tool in it. Learn how to replace the chain pins, at the very least get a few master links. You are still going to need a chain tool, in either case.

What would you do if you where 20 miles from the trail head?
Multi tool chain parts, some bolts, brake pads, zip ties, couple of feet of duct tape. Extra tubes and a pump, I carry old shifter cables I replaced.
    Some basic first aid stuff.
Even if you are riding with a group you may get separated. Out in the woods, if something happens it's up to you to get you back home again

Love the High Roller on there, that's probably the sole reason I sometimes want to ride 26" again. Best all around tire I ever used. What tires are you fellas running on your XC/AM rigs?

I might have the wife mess with the camera a bit later and change the lighting and contrast later. We are going on a hike in a few before stuffing our faces with lots of Thanksgiving goodness. ...

I am currently running Bontrager XR4's tubeless and love them. They changed the tread pattern, similar to the Nevegal and some others. I have the old style on the front, new on the back, new ones are better.

I have found that I usually trash sidewalls before I ever wear the tread out, so I always go for the stickiest compound. For me, it does make a big difference in traction.

I also like the Maxxis Ignitor, but they are expensive. They are better for summer dry and dusty conditions, I like the bigger knobbies for the wetter months.

Your local terrain and trail conditions are probably the most important factors in what works well.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
Thanks guys!! Would've finished this build long time ago, but I've been so busy. Riding her on Friday! I'll post some other pics soon of the build components.

High Rollers are one of my favorite tires for EVERYTHING. All my bikes run HR's on the rear. I like fatter Minion DH's in the front.

    Happy thanksgiving guys!

HAHA! I barely have time for my own builds! I can definitely offer component advice much easier though. ;)

That said, I've got ONE more new frame to build and then I'll be all caught up(for now) lol. The GF doesn't like my new frames being hung in our bedroom closet apparently.

    Oh whatever :p

I'm running a Maxxis ardent 2.4 up front which is like a more CC oriented High Roller. I have liked the Nevegal also, that big ramped knob style seems good for the front. In back a I run a Geax Gato 2.3 which is the best rear tire I've ever run for hardpack/moist sandy and clay soils like we have out east. It's a soft sticky one too which I agree does make a difference.
