I have a Kona Cowan that was originally a single speed dirt jumper that I am making into a mountain bike, waiting for my derailleur hanger and it will be done...picture will be posted once it is completed.

More important to find the bike that works for you and that you'll ride.

Nothing wrong with the tried and true Hard Rock.

That's pretty true ^ if it fits your body and fits your needs you're generally good to go t:humbsup:

I don't know much about mountain biking but if it's your first bike don't break the bank thinking you will keep it forever. Tales time to.find out what you want or don't want ;)

A friend of mine just bought a rock hopper. I like Specialized so I am sure it will be fine. I just got out of a hard tail so I wanted FS. If you like it any bike is worth it.

Riding in the snow? Do you have studded tires?

The beach ride looks like camping or something. Haven't done that for a long time. Fun times tho.

Might be riding tomorrow in the snow. I wont have studded tires, but not much snow on the ground. We are hitting it up around 2 pm, today it was like 49 at 2 pm. I hope its just as nice as today.

no, i dont know studded tires would even help much in the snow.. those tires are either the stockers are wtb weirwolfs.

the beach ride was from a recent 3 day camp/ride some buddies and i do annually across catalina island..

i have both a 26" stumpjumper and a 29er.. ive well over several thousand miles on the older 26er and highly recommend the bike for the money,

Picked up a stiffer spring for my DHX. $40.

Was gonna go for the Ti spring kit but figured It wouldn't last nearly as long.

John nice Cove and Chromag bits. I love my Chromag parts.

So...I had my Fox RP23 tuned by Push. This was going to be the last call for the shock or it was gonna be replaced with a DHX coil. Pretty stoked about its transformation. I know Matt (still will) has dealt with them too. If you got any qualms with your shock or fork hit 'em up. Can't believe I waited this long, my Covert now pedals up even better and feels effortless on the dh. It has high leverage ratio so I've always had a tough time keeping a good balance with it either being a little firm or to soft (i'm 190lbs).

it snowed in the local mountains around where i live, so i have been driving up the mountain to go riding the last 2 days. my tires are maxxis ignitor 29's, they have been workin ok so far in the snow. yesterdays run was ok not to much trouble, but mt baldy had a good layer of snow on the trail and it was hard to ride down in some spots. here are links to the videos.
