Played on the trails near the office today. The last picture shows why I'll be putting my egg beaters on this weekend. Those pedals bite!

I did exactly what you did. Went tubeless and dropped the big chainring and put on a BBG bash guard and went 2x10 as well. A triple chainring for the terrain that I ride was useless. Some areas that I ride I don't even use the front derailleur.

bone stock save for the block lift that came on it with the open country m/t.
I cannot remember the last time I used the front der but don't want to go 1x10 just yet. Bbg bash guard ftw! I had stopped using the big ring long ago as well, a hindrance when it came to logs too. Not that I am any good at it. Lol

Why not just put the bike in the bed? :p

I thought about getting one of those racks when I first got my bike then I wondered: "What if some idiot rear ends me and just totals my bike and possibly my tailgate?" But I see you have no tail gate on at the moment. :p

those racks are solid...i was afraid of that too but our beds are so small that a bike still has a chance of getting damaged in an accident. i use a pick up pad now so the way i look at it if i get rear ended i would probably lose a front wheel and fork which is way better than the whole bike, i guess aside from all the other damage to my truck haha

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
    This.

Owning 2 Kuat racks myself on both my daily drivers(and convincing Jordan to ditch his Thule for the Kuat lol), I am def not afraid of anyone rear ending me and damaging my truck. On the flipside, if you threw your bike on a pad and got rear ended both your bike AND your truck risk damage as opposed to just your bike being damaged.

Bookmarked this picture from Kuat's FB page:

thats a cool pic, i guess if you think about it, they design those to basically be like a ball hitch that supports a bunch of bike. i mean you dont want to be towing from the back of one but its got to be strong and seeing that pic definitely makes me want to get one haha

Some pics from a Bitchin ride I took last week around Lake Sonoma. 18 mile loop, ended up being quite a beast of a ride in the 96* weather. Fun single track and good altitude change. A few spots where I had to walk it, but mostly rideable.

Bike shot on nice flowy s/t

A nice cool, quiet pool amongst the redwoods that I was able to take a dip in. Cooled off and continued on.

Fun ride all things considered. A little longer than I'd like to do on my FR rig, but hey, I don't own a xc bike so... My options are limited!

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
    Exactly!

Kuats come in 3 flavors, pick one that fits your budget and you'll only have to buy ONCE. :D I've got their 2-bike 1.25" hitch "The NV" on my Forester XT and their 2" hitch The NV w/the 2 bike add-on(4 bikes total) on my Tacoma. I use the crap out of them and they've seen all seasons and have nothing bad to report!

The NV: (hitch pin lock, integrated bike cable locks, integrated bike stand---2" hitch version can be upgraded to hold 4 bikes)

NV Core: (The NV w/o hitch pin lock, cable locks, bike stand)

Sherpa: (a 'smaller' version of The NV recommended for lighter xc/road bikes)
