I am getting owned right now about Pike Vs. Fox. To each their own. Maybe I aught to throw a pike on my Bronson and try it out.

Ha ha, hard to battle against the Pike and all its glory!! Just dont put one on there unless you are ready to buy it, because you are going to want to make the switch... I agree with Matt, the Pike paired with the CCDBA is hands down the best, most compliant suspension combo out there. With very little tuning out of the box, the performance just cannot be beat.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
Yeah, I was never too fond of early RS forks....then I began to like them again after riding on a Revelation fork that was on my friend's Spesh---but not enough to sway me from my Fox fork at the time. The Pike, however, erased everything bad I had believed about RS. The only brand loyalty I carry these days is for my frame and drivetrain flavor of choice: Santa Cruz & Shimano.

Yup, cosigning what Jerry said. Unless you have the funds ready to commit to purchasing, demo'ing a Pike with no intentions of buying will drive you crazy hahaha. They're just sweet. The thing that sucks is it's really hard to describe the difference between a Fox and a Pike without seat time. It's just MUCH different in a better way on the Pike. Wayyyy more compliance, even down to small bumps.

Landon, your Bronson is one of the perfect frames for a Pike/CCDBA combo. The VPP with that combo is just buttery. If you take a look on Santa Cruz's website---they have already phased out ALL Fox forks on ALL of the builds for the 2015 Bronson: aluminum & carbon. They're all being built up with RockShox forks, and I'd imagine that was for a good reason. You'll see they offer the CCDBA CS as an upgrade over the Fox rear shock too.

The Double Barrel line is pretty expensive, but man it's sooo worth it. Cane Creek has awesome support for the rider post purchase. One of the most awesome things about owning the CCDBA CS is you can hop over to the Cane Creek website for a base tune specifically dialed for your bike. They are constantly compiling tunes and updating their base tune database to keep up with past and current frames. I don't know about you guys, but one of my least favorite things is dialing in my rear shocks. This helps me personally a shit ton:

.....which reminds me, maybe it's time to finally crack the whip and build my faakkking new Bronson Carbon frame sitting in my storage for the last 3 months!

my friend has one on his pivot Mach 5.7 and he says he loves it, I'm already putting an enve dh bar, bigger rotors and a new stem on my bronson and I think next I'm gonna get the pike and a ccdba, does the climb switch make a world of a difference? I've seen a good amount of people just running normal ccdb airs

My buddy just picked up a 5.7 with a Pike as well.. It was a big upgrade for him and he loves it..

Nice choices you are going with! The CCDBA with the Pike is just unreal. I've done park days, long grinders, super chunky and everything in between with it, and I have yet to have any sort of complaint. It is hands down, the most well rounded and best performing suspension I have ever ridden. We have a lot of chunk here in AZ, so a well performing suspension is a must for a lot of the more fun trails

I wouldn't say the CS makes a world of difference, but it does help. Some trails here that require more pedaling than DH, i'll just keep the CS on for the entire ride to be faster.. So if you are going as far as buying the CCDBA, I would say spend the extra 50 bucks or so and get it with the CS, you wont regret it.

I love how the Pike has now set the standard that all other forks are striving towards. Since I haven't ridden the new 36 I can only comment on what I have read about it.. So, what I have read so far is that it is a good fork and a massive improvement over the previous Fox forks. Still heavier than the Pike, and still not quite as good.. Again, I am paraphrasing what I have read about it.

As for the mrp, a friend of mine has one, but he barely rides so I don't think he has much to report. In my opinion, the Pikes closest competition will be the DVO diamond, which isn't available just yet..

Here's how I look at it. Fox, mrp, dvo, etc all got left in the dust when Rockshox released the new Pike, and are all trying to play catch up. But when you look at weight, price and overall performance, the Pike still comes out on top.

For me to go back to Fox, well, they would have to come out with something substantially better. Not only in performance but in weight savings as well..
