I have a Thule which I got before these were generally available. The Kuat is a pretty nice rack and affordable too.

Thanks! I was looking at the Thule T2 or the Kuat. Both look great. Will probably pick one up when the season starts up again in the spring!

I looked at both and ended up with the Kuat. The Kuat folds down and you can open the tailgate on the tacoma while it's still attached. The tailgate will apparently hit the T2 when opened. Total deal breaker for me. The Kuat is solid. Happy I went with it.

I picked this up over the weekend. It's probably going to snow now and it will sit for 3 months, but I'll be ready in the spring!

Good to know. That's the only reason I originally bought the roof racks (unobstructed access to the bed/camper), so the Kuat sounds like the way to go.

Here's a little info on VPP and how it works...http://www.santacruzbikes.co.uk/site2009/vpp/

I'm a past employee over at the factory and can tell you that vpp bikes simply work better. They are more conducive to all types of terrain and have a very polished feel to them. I've ridden both single pivot's and vpp bikes and personally have always opted for the vpp. When it comes down to it, they are both awesome bikes...guess there's a little personal preference involved. Also, if you are ever in the area they offer free demos of all models which might help to make a decision. Hope this helps, cheers!

Got a dropper post yesterday. Pretty excited about it. Installing tomorrow on my SB75. First ride with it will be this weekend.

Wasn't that one of the reasons for the new office?

Anyway, I second VPP. Super happy with my Nomad and the Blur before it.

Thanks for the link and the info. I ended up going with a Heckler frame earlier this week since that's the bike that I know for sure that I'll feel comfortable and confident in. I did try to ride a Bronson but it was only pedaling it in a parking lot which wasn't helpful at all. The bikes shops around here barely started carrying Santa Cruz three months ago, so taking one out on the trail wasn't an option. I'm happy with my choice and I got a Cane Creek shock to help the Heckler out a little more than a CTD shock.

    Any recommendations for a 30.9 dropper post $200-$300? I ride a Yeti SB75 and am 5'-7" with a 30" inseam.

Not sure if this helps, but my experience with the Reverb is not great. I have one on my Ibis and it is sticky and hard to actuate. I am going to try bleeding it and see if that helps.

I had a Joplin and it was OK, got through 2 seasons of riding before it needed a rebuild.

I am thinking about getting a Thompson but they are hella expensive.

All I know is that once you ride with a dropper you won't want to go back!
The downside is that they all need some maintenance. Everyone seems gaga over the Reverb, but I am not sure I am digging the extra complexity.

Reverb or KS Lev but like it was mentioned they're all going to need some kind of maintenance. You can go with a Gravity for simplicity and reliability, but I'd rather get one where the cable doesn't go up and down with the seat (like the Lev or the Reverb Stealth).

I rode my Specialized Command post Blacklite for 4k trouble free miles before selling the bike it was on. All I did was slick honey the stanchion every 3 to 4 rides. I never had one issue. It felt rock solid also, when compared to others I've felt that twist when you try to move the saddle.

My first gen reverb was horrible. Rock Shox replaced it after I had it fail twice. Great customer service by RS considering I bought it used. 2nd gen has been trouble free.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
Finished customizing the new bike I'm giving my lady for Christmas...it will be her first entry level MTB.

I couldn't stand her pile of shit Walmart Schwinn "Aluminum Comp" any longer on our rides. The thing would not shift correctly for more than a few weeks until going back to hanging between almost every gear. Oh and not to mention it's just a piece of crap. Don't worry she bought that, not me lol.

    Her old bike:

What she'll be getting on Christmas:

    IMG_20141223_155134_1-picsay_zpsiloztxmw_b5ef226ca7889aa2c519e360a682dacd14727390.jpg

It's a brand new 2014 GT Bikes Avalanche Comp GT(W).

Her favorite color is pink so I did my best to do customize it TASTEFULLY lol.
    -pink ODI Ruffian grips
    -pink Fyxation platform pedals
-pink cased Serfas Thunderbolt LED tail light
    -Lezyne Zecto front LED light
-changed the saddle to an Ergon Phorm S/330 gel for women(feels like a couch compared to the saddles I ride on lol)
-changed the stem to a shorter Hussefelt 40mm for a more comfortable seating position.
