Hopes are damn near bomb proof and great hubs! Had them on my last dh bike laced to mavic 823 hoops and beat the ever loving crap out of them. Out of 3 and a half seasons (I ride year round living in az) only changed bearings in the rear hub once.

Yeah I have a set of the pro 2 on my DJ now too as they are pretty light and sound nice too. Ive had them for close to 7 years now i think? Rode 3 seasons on DH then swapped onto DJ. Only opened the hub once, cleaned it, but everything was good inside other then that.

Well, that makes me feel better about their price tags.

Take a look around chain reaction cycles - Ive bought two sets through with Hope pro 2's with their custom wheel builder and it was the best prices I could find and they are usually enough to qualify for free shipping (sold one set to get Industry 9's; bad idea)

Just ordered the hubs off Chain Reaction. Saved almost $90 compared to Jenson. Thanks for reminding me about chain reaction.

What DH/AM tires do you guys recommend? Currently have maxxis highroller on the rear but bent the rim slightly so might as well upgrade everything. Looking at maxxis minion dhf but open to others. A lot of the trails in Colorado are loose dirt over hardpack with rain usually every afternoon leaving the trails nice and tacky.

    Yeah.
Personally, I would go with something a little less aggressive/knobby for CO trails. The Minion/High Rollers are better in the more loamy NW conditions. The Griffin looks interesting. Minion DHR might be better than the DHF in those conditions.

the minion is supposed to be a great tire but I have never run it. I had continental trail king 2.4 front and x-king 2.4 rear and that was a solid setup. a little heavy but I wanted the higher volume and stronger sidewalls because of all the rocks we have. when there aren't rocks we usually have similar conditions to you. personally I like the bigger knobs on the side like minions, high rollers, trail king, mountain king, etc. for the front so they can dig through the loose stuff, dry or not. I had a mountain king (original) 2.4 front and maxxis ardent 2.25 rear and that was also a solid setup for dry conditions. i'm not sure how the newer mountain king compares to the old one though. it looks pretty similar to the trail king only a little lighter. the ardent might be a good choice for you front and back.

I run minion DHRII and DHF on both bikes. Absolutely killer combo in most conditions. Living in az, the terrain I ride on is extremely diverse and changes depending on what part of the state I'm riding and these tires handle everything extremely well. Have even run them in Whistler, Angel Fire, Tahoe, Northstar and Big Bear, they performed great everywhere, wet or dry..

Hard part is getting them though. I just ordered them for my new trail bike and it was a major pain in the ass because nobody has them in stock, including Maxxis... 650b, Tubeless Ready, EXO, folding bead..

Now, the dual ply wire bead I run on my DH bike seem to be a little easier to find..

Just got these in today. Very quick shipping from Northern Ireland to California.

    image.jpg1_zps5b813dal_d70fb4e8aaeb4c4182242e43b80bcf7622aef5cd.jpg

Gonna take them in to be installed on Sunday. Also going with some DT Swiss Champion spokes. Been debating Stans NoTubes ZTR Flow hoops. Not entirely sold on needing new rims. The ones I have on are Diamondback branded ones, but they're double walled for tubeless and they have been pretty stout so far. Just wondering how much lighter the Stans will be.

Edit: I will certainly be going tubeless when I swap over. Just had a bad blow-out yesterday evening on a black diamond trail. Split the tube in three places. Ended up getting a spare 27.5 tube (I'm on a 29er) from some guy just so I could get off the trail before dark. Never again.

Thanks for all the replies about the tires guys. Still researching all the options, being a 26er is kinda limited these days.

Im still not sold on tubeless, burped my front tire mid berm and almost endo'd. Had to walk the bike down to the fireroad and get a ride down in a truck.

Even while tubeless, I'll still be carrying a spare tube. I figure it will help lower the unsprung weight of the bike either way.

yeah i still carry a spare tube or two and i need to get some plugs too. burping and holes are gonna happen. berms are definitely gonna put some stress on the sidewall/bead and if youre running low tire pressure it will definitely lead to burping. Might want to carry some CO2, that might be good enough to seat a bead again.

image.jpg Not a mountain bike (yet) ;) looking at an orbea oiz m20 or bh lynx 4.829 XT, but i put some mountain bike love in my taco and thought yall would enjoy this. Made a shift knob out of an old handlebar, hot glue, a nut, a few washers and ESI grips that matched the gauges and underdash LEDs.

The Maxxis Advent is an awesome less aggressive and fast rolling DH/FR tire IMO. They make it up to a 2.4 size and the 2.4 is bigger than my old minion 2.5's....and it has a nice round profile so the side lugs grab really well. I run them on my trail, slope and DH bikes.

Can anyone recommend a good remote seatpost that doesn't cost too much? I'm looking at a Rockshox Reverb right now. Any others worth mentioning?

at that price the KS lev is supposed to be good. I'm about to get a ks lev integra for my new (to me) bike. with that said i have heard of some problems from both but thats what happens when you add more mechanical parts...more stuff to break. i havent heard anything about the fox DOSS dropper though, it might be worth looking at.

So this old thing showed up...a neighbor was throwing it away and I'm always looking for a project and new hobbies...

First things first, I gotta fix all the cables and pedals as 1 pedal is MIA and several cables are broken...the chain and gears are pretty rusty so I'll have to check all that out...and I don't know if the tires hold air yet

    We will see what happens

    Yeah.
My new bike came with a KS Lev Integra, so far so good. Some of the folks I run into on the trail that seem to know what the good stuff is use a KS Lev. I have heard that the Reverbs are running into problems, but that is just hearsay.
