    Yeah.
Good luck! I do a few races over the season mostly for fun, but it helps make you faster. I am doing a local race today that is part of the collegiate series, but they added non-collegiate classes. I was the only rider registered in Cat 2, but a friend tried to register in Cat 1 and it wouldn't let him, so he is running in Cat 2 with me. My chances for a win just disappeared, that guy is an animal.

I am doing this only for fun also, and to support the cause. Mountain bikers at Annadel are getting some heat with more and more hikers and equestrians use up there. A lot of proceeds from this go to help keep the trails open to riding.

    Yeah.
Most of the races I do have the proceeds going to the park system, the local MTB club that builds and maintains trails, or cancer research, so I am glad to contribute and just try to not come in last place.

We have similar angst between the bikers and the equestrians here. Horses aren't really bothered by muddy trails, and every year they go out and post hole the new trail that the MTB community has designed and built with volunteers. Most equestrians think the park system does the maintenance and don't think twice about ruining the trail, heck, they pay taxes. We go in and fix it, and then they complain about us being out there on our bikes.

I personally don't mind sharing the trails, and there are a fair share of MTBers that don't respect the trail or practice proper trail etiquette. The parks that separate horse areas from hike/bike areas have it right, but it is tough to change a large multi-use park -- somebody is gonna get pissed off.

I bought my Hope hubs from ChainReaction. Great price and I got it really quickly. You're going to love the Hopes with the Flows, I have that exact setup (but as a 29er) and I love them. I bought the Flows from Jenson at $93 a piece.

Well I wasn't last! I am happy with my first ever mountain bike race. Took a nasty spill from a guy going down in front of me. Just cuts and bruises....I think for me. The guy in front and the one guy behind were very slow getting up. Overall it was a great time.

Decided to go 650b instead. Got a deal on a set of rims off a new Tokul. Will get me on the trails for now then turn them into street rims with slicks. Save some monies and get a nice set of stans and hopes

    Yeah.
Great job! I hate it when people get bunched up, especially when there are roadies in the bunch that know how to pedal but completely suck at bike skills. I always try to put some distance between me and shaky riders even if I have to give up some positions. You will eventually pass them anyway. Glad you had a good time, keep it up!

I, on the other hand, took last in Cat 2 today (there were only 6 of us total), but these guys were all fast riders and I wasn't too far behind. I rode well, no offs, no flats, and no broken parts. Two of my riding buddies took 2nd and 3rd, so not a bad day. The important thing is both of my laps were faster than any single lap I have done in Cat 3 on the same course in previous years.

There was a guy in Cat 3 that I passed on my 2nd lap, he hadn't even finished his first yet. He didn't look like he had crashed, but he may have flatted once or twice. He was riding very carefully and seemed to be in way over his head -- this is one of the most technical courses on the midwest race calendar and is pretty brutal.

My what nice tires you got on there........6fittyB or 29'er? Gotta love that maestro rr suspension. I know I love it on my AnthemX 29er. Upgraded my rotors/pads to Icetech. Nice improvement over the SLX.

I love the Butcher 2.3 up front and a Purgatory in the back.. Running 650b. The IceTech rotors were a game changer compared to the stock SLX ones.

New to TW will be buying a gen3 shortly. Saw this thread and had to contribute.

These are my babies. Top is my Specialized Demo with Float 40, Saint Groupo, and öhlins rear shock.

Below is my Nomad Carbon CC.

4 to 5 trips Whistler and riding throughout Oregon and Washington are staples every year. I try and ride as much as possible. Love seeing all the Tacomas and Bikes!

Just picked my new to me Chameleon up tonight. '13/'14 model well taken care of. Has a White Brothers pre-MRP Loop 130 mm fork that's in really good shape. Going to start building her up 650b style next week hopefully. Chameleon FrameFork.jpg

Nice, I've done 10 or so builds that started out something like this. Have fun widdit. I have several bikes where the whole thing showed up part by part on the front porch including having to put together hoops/spokes/hubs into a working wheelset. Only problem is I'm out of space to store any more and they are moving in the house and when you build'em up like that there is that sentimental hook that prevents them from going bye-bye. Bike #19 will have to be some killer fill-an-obscure-niche that none of the others do, lol................
