Ticks and rattle snakes are my least favorite on the local trails. At one point I was getting one tick on me per ride. It was annoying.

Just bought this 07 Specialized Pitch Pro Friday as my first Mountain Bike. I'm excited to hit the trails and learn more about riding these things!

Yep I saw like 3 snakes on a ride the other day... One of them was a decent size rattler. Definitely had me wigged out lol

i've eaten my share of spiders. sometimes i ride after work and wonder if the spiders are really that fast at building webs across the trail or if i'm actually the first rider of the trail for the day.

on some of the trails here beside the lake, there's bagworms that have little cocoon looking things that hang down in the middle of the trail.

I ran across a California King snake yesterday while climbing up to the Luge. He was about two foot and enjoying the sun.

Scorpion Stand. Got it from a local bike shop. It's easy to put the bike on and makes working on the bike easy. A little pricey for the green one, but I liked it. And thank you.

Another question guys... is it possible/ practical to upgrade a bike with 26" wheels to 27.5 or 29"?

Reason I ask is, I've got my eye on a pretty good deal on a 2011 Specialized Camber Elite. Unfortunately it has 26" wheels... Wondering if it's worth upgrading down the line

Maybe to some 27.5's but definitely not the 29's. 26 inch frames don't have the angles to accommodate a 29 inch wheel.
Bike geometry is usually designed around a certain tire size.

27.5 might be doable on some frames in the rear - but the 26" fork will likely have clearance issues. Most folks trying to squeeze a 27.5 in there have to run a relatively narrow tire, which kinda defeats the point of the taller tire. Check the mtbr.com manufacturer subforums for your brand and search/ask if anyone has done it before.

Jamis makes some nice bikes. I like their geometry and their race series bikes have nice lines.

Best you do research on mtbr forum and find out if anyone else tried it. For sure you can do a "67" or even crazy "69" if you want...26" in the rear and 29" in the front. I right now have 26" in the rear and 27.5" in front. For the front, it's just the fork you use...whether it can clear 27.5" wheel or not...some 26" fork can clear it... my carbon revelation fork can clear it barely. For the rear, it's whether you go with 1X drivetrain or not... if you use front derailleur than the larger wheel in the rear may make contact as the rear end bottoms out. The other thing to consider if if you go full 27.5 (650b) than you raise your bottom bracket...good for clearance but changes the rake of the bike so climbing will be a bit more difficult, but more stable for going down hill.

The theory with 29" is that it rolls over the small bumpy section better because of the larger radius, but you pay with a heavier wheel/tire. 27.5" is supposed to be best of both world...hence I wanted to try 27.5 up front. I haven't been riding to know if this is good or not.. but hope that helps you decide.

I think for now...just ride the 26" wheels...it was great for decades. I really think all these industry standard changes is the bike industry suckering folks to keep on upgrading and spending more money each year. The best change I like is the 1X drivetrain...less maintenance and less stress on the chain.

Haha I wish I was that comfortable in the air. I'll get there one day. This photo is actually from the second time I hit it.

My first attempt, I didn't check my entry speed at all and really flew. Cleared the stump by 20' down the trail and my left foot lost the pedal in all the excitement. Fortunately, I was able to ride it out and watch the speed on the second attempt haha!

Set up is key for me too. I can only ride with Shimano and Rock Shox and I prefer Mavic wheels too.
Its what I raced and love all three brands.
