Yeah, the last thing I remember, a really good bike was like $1500. Now its $6000. I told the guy at the bike store I expected a set of car keys once I handed over the check. I have to admit I'd never heard of Intense before. I test rode everything I could get my hands on and the Intense Spider felt like it was custom built for me. Everything else I rode was just average in comparison. Now I just need to get a buyer for my old 26er! http://farmington.craigslist.org/bik/5647181100.html

Ive never been a fan of running cables that way either, but I have also never damaged the cables there either so I stopped worrying for myself. I feel like over or around the BB somehow would be safer.

    Yeah.
The new Fuel I got has that Trek "Control Freak" cable routing where everything is routed internal, including hydraulic lines, and it also has an insert in the bottom tube that lets you run a cable tie to cinch down the internal cables to keep them from chattering around. However, getting that cable tie around the cables and back out the opening is kind of a pain. It came with really crappy brakes (not sure what they were thinking, 4xx series Shimano), so I put XT's on it and had to run the brake lines through the frame. I had to make a couple of "tools" out of a wire hanger to first gather the cables together and hold them in place, and then get the cable tie to come back out the hole to cinch things down. Even though it's a pain, it's really clean and well thought-out. Plenty of routiing options for a shock remote, 2x setup if that's how you roll, dropper post, etc.

But I have also had externally routed cables going under the BB and have never had an issue. It's just cleaner-looking to route them internal. Hell, it's a bunch of tubes, why not?

Been riding Snow Summit bike park for the past two days and having a blast doing so. No action shots.

Camp site was right next to the park so we could just ride up to the lift from our tents.

I've got friends that ride with routing like that and have never heard of a big issue, its more of my own piece of mind knowing the cables/ brake lines aren't there for rocks to hit. Internal routing is definitely the way to go though.

I'm not insinuating the routing is a function thing, sure, it works. More of a form thing. Function over form rules but no reason to not want both.

Got a couple pals that use them. I was in the market but found a Thule T2 that a vendor had used at shows only and he basically let me steal it form him. So, I couldn't pass that up. But they all love their 1 ups. Very stable and user friendly. But pricey.

    ive good friends with them.
they seem to be really nice racks. the quality is top notch.
it can be a bit of a pain to release the ratchet used to keep the wheel cinched down but other than that they are amazing rack systems
