Yeah its an XCT spring fork.. nothing too crazy. I've determined that I have no preload on the spring and it rides the nicest. I haven't even been able to bottom out the fork haha.

Thanks for all the help and tips!

I just built this bike carrier today, let's call it version 1.0. The angle iron is a little too twitchy for my liking so I'm going to redo it with square tubing this weekend. Does anybody have any ideas for tire carriers that I can attach to this bar? I hate the idea of just throwing them in the back of the truck especially since I have to keep the tailgate open to haul my bike.

Trade up for a long bed

But it all seriousness, I have that exact same mount and was hoping I could gather some ideas because I have the factory tonneau mounting bar in the front of the bed with no tonneau cover..

I might just drill into it and see how that works out.

That rr fender almost looks like a baby seat.........The point of a MTB is to get dirty and muddy, save the fenders for the commuter or touring bike :D Embrace the dirtyness......not that there's much of that around Town Lake.

i actually want to add a small fender to my bronson. it's more to keep the bike clean and free from rock chips. there's actually a cheap and easy way to make one of the tiny fenders out of a flexible cutting board. http://www.instructables.com/id/1-MTB-mud-guard/

Like this? Mine is for decoration............(who the fuck builds a rigid geared bike nowadays anyway?............me) Got all the other angles covered so did this bike up for fun last wknd........haven't even done the final cable trim and put ends on them, lol.

    marin_26.jpg

Seriously tho, only reason for these tiny fenders up front IMO is to keep crap away off your fork seals when not running fork boots or Lizardskins on them. On this build I did, it is just to help the rigid fork not look so dorky....or more so, lol.

This is the only other "fender" I have but it is to help keep the frame pivots and rear shock less muddy, not me............lhwp_09.jpg

That's the same bike I have! I love it.

Be warned: the front wheel tacos easily and will send your ass flying.

I've got a sweet new front wheel setup now though.

You may can find my post a few pages back. I was going down some rocks and my front tire hit one and bent in two "taco'd" itself and sent me flying. Had to get all new wheel and brake/rotor assembly.

I crashed my new bike off a tabletop jump yesterday. Those 29" tires take some getting used to. I don't think it would have happened if I was on 26's.
BTW does a cracked rib feel like a sword plunged through your chest?

Yes, it does. You (he) may not have cracked anything, maybe just tore up where they connect to your sternum. Nothing they can do either way, and they don't wrap you up anymore because it can cause you to breath shallow and end up with pneumonia. Hurts just as bad either way. Just remember to take 3 deep breaths every half hour no matter how much it hurts. Go get a picture taken if it makes you (him) feel better. The rib cage is an amazing thing.

Ask me how I know . . . okay, don't ask, hope your friend feels better.
