b/c if you dropped the cranks, you'd have nothing to stand on, let alone pedal with. Gears...some have them, some dont. And pegs. well, there is just no use for them in the woods, nor any flow/jump track/trails. Pegs are only needed for street and park (and on a totally different bike).

I drive those distances regularly for good riding. Hell I have to in order to find good trails.

I have to say that's almost true. I grew up mountain biking in California and doing the Tahoe ski lift thing. Califoria is great for the downhill for sure. Just moved here to Austin TX about 4 months ago and while I miss the California mountain bike scene there's definitely a lot more places to ride here in Texas than there was where I lived. It's a different kind of biking, more technical for sure but I wouldn't say it sucks. ... I'm still learning to adjust though I'll give you that.

And all gravity too. How do you get going if you wreck?

    Wrecking would suck.

Here's a couple pics of my new Rocky Mounts roof racks. Currently riding a 2009 GT Carbon Expert and am looking at building a Niner with a 1x10 for racing next year.

Only issue I have is you'd think they would make 15mm & 20mm skewers. Had to pay another $50 to get an adapter. The 15mm will be on about 50% of the bikes in the next year our so.

bone stock save for the block lift that came on it with the open country m/t.
so in case anyone wanted to know, I was successful in my ghetto tubeless conversion. They went flat the first night, but I was able to reinflate with a compressor last night. Overnight they held air, so I am happy thus far. :)

oh, I gotcha. Well, if you ran that type of setup, you'd have no way to put power to the ground. Motorcycles can get away with it b/c they don't need cranks to accelerate. Gravity alone isnt always enough when riding trails :)
