Nothing fancy...but picked this 2016 model up recently at a local bike shop for a sizeable discount. No serious trail riding, but will be used to ride on gravel/forest roads to access fishing spots.

Here's a shot of old vs new Rocky Mounts with the newer one being closest in the pic. Also took a close up shot so you can see how the new one is sitting. Is there rail recessed like this on 2nd gens? You have to add the rail on 3rd gens. I'm not sure if the piece over the rail is bigger as well. I looked at my side rails and they stick out a few mm.

For me, bikes are WAY worse than mods, lol. I just ordered my own xmas present, a Remedy 8. If you can swing the extra $300, the 8 has the GX Eagle rather than NX, and a Lyrik with the Charger 2 damper rather than a Yari with MotionControl. Well worth the $300 IMHO.

Thanks for the feedback. My truck is a 1st gen so I don't have the factory rails. I added some using super strut mounted to a bed bar. I'm assuming it will still bolt in the way my deltas did.

Those look like all QRs? Mine is a 15mm thru axle. With my mounts, you can't lock up a QR unless you buy their clutchsd attachment.

Just got my Spot Mayhem a couple days ago! So stoked on it but I have my build lined up and need to sell basically everything aside from the frame, shock, dropper, saddle, and tires. So, if anyone needs anything they see here let me know! This is replacing my 650B Spot Rollik, as I loved their suspension design but the end game was always to go back to a 29er when they came out with one.

Any single speeders out there. Found killer deal on 2013 jamis dragon 29er frame made out of 853 steel really light frame. Definetly gunna be single speed but not sure if i should go with rigid fork or suspension.

I have been riding SS for a long time. I had my Black Sheep set up rigid last year. Switched it over to suspension fork this year. Now I wish I wouldn't have sold my 29+ wheels and rigid fork. Anyway, if you want to go cheap, then go rigid and get a carbon fork. The rigid makes you a lot more selective when choosing a line, especially on a rocky trail. It amazed me how quickly you can move the bike around to avoid certain lines because if you nail a little rocky section, it will scrub your speed. But, climbing is great. Rocky climbs are so much easier with a rigid fork because you don't get the compression and rebound after hitting a rock right before another one. It is also pretty fun to pass a person on a fully suspended bike with a fully rigid SS when descending.

I’m looking to build a wheel set and was looking for opinions on rims. I have a Chris King SS rear hub I’m had pulled off my old bike and rebuild by my LBS. I also just got a deal on a matching CK front hub on eBay. I’m looking at aluminum rims such as the Arch MK3, Spank Oozy 295, and some of the WTB rims. Anyone have experience with these or have suggestions on other wheels I should look into?

They will be going on a Ti SS trail/XC bike

I have some Arch MK3's on my hardtail built on I9 hubs and I like them! I think I'll have to have them trued up a bit in a few rides, but after all, they are freshly built and I ride my steel hardtail like nobodys business.

Fwiw, Stan's rims are an acquired taste. There isn't a traditional bead hook. They make the bead seat slightly larger than standard to hold the tire tighter. The first 2 Tues I tried to use on my old flow ex ztr rims blew off the rim, even when using a standard floor pump. They both blew off at like 35 psi while trying to seat the bead. I replaced the tires but it took me a long time to have confidence in them after that. My new bike has WTB i25 rims and I've had zero problems out of them. They've stayed true through my fat ass riding hard through rock gardens. I'm a fat guy that goes off drops. If you are looking at Arch, you are either not a fat guy or don't know about Stan's weight limits of their rims.

That’s very helpful feedback. I was talking to the guys at my LBS and they actually recommended WTB over Stans as well. They said they’ve had more occurrences of denting Stans. I’m liking those i25’s you’re using. I’m not really wanting something to wide so the i29 May be unnecessary added weight.

I’m I pretty skinny dude. I’m barely tipping the scales at 160 these days so weight capacity isn’t an issue w most rims for me

How long have you been running those Mk3’s?

Don't get me wrong, the Stan's rims we're good enough for me to not get rid of them, but that was more because I loved the hope hubs they were laced to. I'd probably not but Stan's rims again unless they were a killer deal. I had to have the rear trued a couple times a year. Definitely not as strong as the i25s. They make a narrower one called i23 if you want something narrower.

After doing some reading, I’m kind of digging the WTB Kom’s 29 I25
