They say the original set up of this bike (29er) is crazy fun....and I don’t doubt it. I just fell in love with the 27.5/650b set up of my current bike along with running 2.6” tires. I saw how guys were switching their 111’s over to this setup and were loving it. I figure knowing I love the set up along with the process geometry....it should make this an extremely fun project. What wheels are you gonna run?

My only issue with the 27+ is that I have never rode them. It seems like a great idea for a shorter travel enduro like the 111. I’m curious to see your setup once completed. For me it’s Hope pro4 hubs, stans flow rims with DT Swiss spokes. Maxxis Aggressor on rear and trying a DHR 2 up front

My 11spd has 10/42 cassette. Doesn't the 12 spd come paired with a 10/46? Guess that could be determined by what chainring you're running. I stayed with the 32t, thought about going down to 30t but was happy with the gearing where I ride most. Anything very hilly and I'd be dropping to a 30t but not needing it for now. Waiting on wheels mfg angular threaded pf92 bb to get here and upgrading magnum fork internals then the last swap will be hope pro4 hubs. I say last but pretty sure I'll find other stuff to do, lol.........also threw in a pr of ceramic bearing pulleys on the rr derailleur.......

Sram eagle gx is 10-50 cassette. I went with shimano 1x11 and it’s a11-46 cassette. I opted for the 34 chainring and so far it’s been great. Just need the rain to stop

I may put more money into my gravel bike (warbird) and get some carbon wheels and buy a hardtail or alloy xc race bike for xc season coming up. Im eyeing the new transition vanquish, scott spark rc comp, or the salsa timberjack titanium. Heres a pic of my gravel bike. 1x with ultegra r8000 rear derailleur with an 11-40 xt cassette and a 42t wolf tooth oval ring up frontF460FAE6-7A33-4C4A-95FD-040E102D65BB.jpg

Sorry, meant the gravel setup. I mean your xc race bike plans sound great and all, but your warbird has me imagining spending hours getting “lost” on redwood logging roads in my home town in NorCal.

I got a non titanium Salsa Timberjack for my son and it’s an awesome bike! It’s his first proper mountain bike and in an adult size as well :) it’s a great frame with internally routed cables, even for dropper post. I can see him riding this for years. I wish it would have came with a dropper post but oh well. It wasn’t pricey in comparison to full suspension bikes. It has the sram nx 1x11 iirc

hmmmmm, gx 11spd on my stache came 32t with 10-42 cassette......it is 29+ with 50mm rims & 29x3.0 tires, maybe that plays into it.............

Went Fuji Tread 1.0 on my gravel rig...plus several upgrades

Those timberjacks are a popular seller at the shop I work at along with some konas. If you go with a dropper the fox transfer has been my favorite so far
