Budget build AF. This has been my commuter for just over a year now. Received new last Christmas. Rain, snow, ice, all manner of weather. I've taken it on trails about 4 or 5 times.

Additions I've made to tweak the experience:
-DNM air suspension front/rear (modified frame to fit rear shock)
-kenda hybrid tires K831 to replace worn OEM tires
-shimano RT66 180/160 discs with ebc pads
    -Rockbros pedals
    -lizard skins chainstay wrap
    -Walmart bottle cage
    -eBay special locking grips
    -Dork disc delete

    Commuter mods:
-rear rack to hold cable lock
    -anti theft skewers
-blinky lights and bell (bell is great for alerting peds)
-black reflective tape in various spots
-taller kickstand to accommodate lifted ride height from DNM rear shock

Most recent mod was the new discs and pads.. the OEM discs were Venturas and they were super noisy.. I was tired of resurfacing them every 3 months.

The ride quality from the OEM chinese fork and rear spring/shock to the DNM was significantly improved. The locking grips have a much more planted feel and don't move around on me. And the tires are much smoother on pavement but have more bite than the factory tires on trails. Unfortunately they don't make this tread type in a tire as wide as I would have liked, these were slightly skinnier than the OEM tires. Happy with the bike other than that. It is quite heavy but it's good exercise :p

oh yeah it's a workout. Last mod was adding fender to keep rain water from flying in my face from the tires. I think that's the last "mod" i'm gonna do on this thing :fingerscrossed:

Despite the recent hate of Tacomabeast, that's actually what Gettagrip charges on their own website. Dude is based here in SLC, and a pretty good guy, but def pricey.

It comes with a nicely made lathed blank to screw on to your shift lever to mount the grip to as well, plus some small finishing bits.

Funny story actually. Before riding into work this morning I installed my fenders because the roads were still wet. I made it halfway and the front fender would not stop rubbing so I pulled over on the sidewalk and completely lost my temper on the front fender. Full blown cursing and throwing shit on the ground. After the fender was in four pieces I shoved it all in my backpack and threw it away when I arrived at work

    Fuck that thing

I had a local guy tack weld an M8 coupling nut in a piece of pipe, and made my own for like $5 and an old SC grip when I changed mine out.
