I currently own a 2017 Kona Precept 130, but rode a 2019 Pivot switchblade aluminum in Moab recently and fell in love.
Can anyone one recommend a bike with similar geometry to the Pivot? Size large, but under $3200?? Just looking for suggestions to narrow down my search before I go sampling.

    Thanks

I'd take a hard look at the Banshee Prime builds on Jensen right now. Awesome bang for the buck.

What did you like about it? Suspension wise a DW link bike will probably ride similar. Most DW link bikes are higher end though and might be a challenge to find at that price range. Geometry is a little easier though.

Im fairly new to the mountain bike world so I don’t want to sound fake and try to use terminology I’m not totally familiar with, but the pivot just gave me a lot of confidence going down the trial, and after a 20 mile ride nothing was sore.

That might be more of a “modern” geometry thing. It looks like the switchblade has a slacker head tube, longer wheelbase and lower BB than your Kona. If you demo other newer bikes you might find a similar result. Does your LBS have any demo bikes available?

I’m sure they do, I’m heading over there later today. Thank you for your help.

Looks great! But take the plastic disc out that’s behind your cassette. They break and litter the trails

There's several options out there for seatpost levers, Wolftooth, Fox, and OneUp have popular options.

Just go old school and have a quick release lever for your seat post. Lower it on downhills and raise it going up hill. :anonymous:

I'm thinking of doing the same to shed a little weight. The only time I really find myself using it is when I am just tooling around town with the kids.

I disagree, I think its very practical, and is very useful in areas that have any amount of up and down. Very easy to just hit the lever, and have the seat pop up and make riding up any size hill easier and faster, without having to stop, and adjust the seat each time, and not being sure its in the same spot each time.

I don't think its worth the cost of the top end ones, at like $400+, but the more budget conscious ones are very much worth it.

Its a game changer for riding downhill. If you're just doing XC, then I would understand not having a need for one. but dropping the post was a major step in improving my skills downhill. I can't believe I rode for so long without realizing how much it helps to have not have a seat up my ass while going down.
