Its a game changer for riding downhill. If you're just doing XC, then I would understand not having a need for one. but dropping the post was a major step in improving my skills downhill. I can't believe I rode for so long without realizing how much it helps to have not have a seat up my ass while going down.

You may change your mind after you ride some of the Bentonville trails. It has taken me a while to get used to having one, and I don't use it a lot, but some of the downhill flow lines with jumps and drops are more fun with the seat a bit more out of the way.

Good plan. I dropped mine twice this weekend for some extended downhill sections. Check YouTube for any videos of the Taylor Homestead trail . . . wait, here's an older one below. The jumps are more refined now, most are rock armored to preserve the lip. Did this trail at dirt church on Sunday, and Coler has way more than this. Believe me, you will want to keep your dropper once you get used to using it.

i cant be doing endos anymore, too many surgeries. :notsure:
its is nice to get the seat out of the way when getting way back over the rear wheel on the steep downhill sections.
ill pull the trigger on something this week and just get it done.

Plus having the seat low lets you tilt the bike side to side better, so you have much better control and traction through turns and... stuff that requires you tilt the bike.

the scott has three shock settings front and rear from the bars as well as the seat dropper lever. very convenient and adaptable. not a lot of the other bikes i looked at had those features

Having a dropper is like one of those things where you don't think you need it, but once you have it you don't know how you ever rode without one. I was hesitant to get one at first, but it is definitely the best upgrade I've done on my bike. Never looking back.

I would like to, but I have a mile of 2 lane highway with no shoulder between me and work. Hoping they widen it at some point, but probably not going to happen soon.

Very nice bike. You’re in for a treat.
When it’s time to upgrade those tires, I’d recommend 2.4” tires or 2.6” if that bike can fit them.
