Stache needed a stache. It was far too clean shaven.

Today was my first official day riding clips. Didn’t feel as awkward as I thought it would. Felt kinda natural. I can definitely feel the different muscle groups being used. I also noticed there was not near as much suspension bob. Hardest part is not being able to drop a foot on turns. I only did a few laps around my local skills park. Still very hesitant. Trying to stay away from any situations that would require me to unclip quick until I can get my confidence built up. But so far I really like them. (Don’t want to use the word love yet, the relationship is to new)

nice. i use clipless petals in most trail applications, for efficiency, but if I'm ever do a bike park day i put the flats back on so I'm not teaching myself bad jumping habits and yes you can dab quicker and get back on the petals faster which is nice.

Did some actual riding today. Liking my clips even more. Noticed my feet hurt like hell when riding. I believe due to the stuff sole of the shoe. Does that ever get any better? Recommendations if you have any.

    Yeah.
Dude, where did you find that? I was looking for that one online a while back and nobody had them -- some shady places listed them, but nobody had any stock. And I don't want the dang orange one.

You should run your brake line on the inside of the fork so it doesn't snag a twig or branch. And nice bars.

Just finished a couple of the new Monument Trails loops out by Beaver Lake. So much fast, flowy goodness. The Fuel is dialed in, love how these things handle.

I just picked up a slightly used Kona Process 153 AL 29'er. Bike shop buddy said, "Welcome to the future." I'll post up some pics when I take it out for a ride this week/end. My old ride is a 2008 Santa Cruz Heckler... I'll just set that one up for pump tracking and wifey cruising now.

Is it specifically the outside of your foot? Yes these muscles will get stronger the more you ride. It may help to move your cleat the furthest back possible, also.

Yes it is the outside of the foot. I adjusted the clear slightly so that my toe is more pointed out and it seems to have helped some.

Yes that's normal. Lots of support in the middle of the foot and the outside of your foot "hangs over" the pedal, causing excess pressure. But your feet will get used to it

Not good when you see a rider walking his back out of the woods. Who rides at 12:00 noon when it’s 100 degrees outside.

    Yeah.
Play with your cleat position. Put on your shoe and feel where the ball of your foot is, mark a line on the shoe there. Align the cleat with that line, or few mm behind it -- NOT in front of it. You want the ball of your foot over the spindle, or slightly in front of it. You can also move from side to side, but I usually just do mine dead center.

All mountain has come a long way. The old Heckler now feels like a BMX bike, compared to the big wheel modern enduro.

And I'll give big props to the EVOC tailgate pad. It's a perfect fit for the truck. I looked at several brands... Yakima, Thule, FOX... but the EVOC is the best quality and fit for the Tacoma.

Yes. You'll develop more muscles around your metatarsals and arch and up the back of your heal. Soreness will go away and you'll be stronger because of it. :)

What about when the bike gets muddy

    My poor seats lmao.

This shit is hella fun though. Sprained my wrist when I took a bad fall a few weeks ago. Still hurts. But still going riding :headbang:

Getting more comfortable on downhill and jumps. Got a little too confident and got thrown off hard one time but that’s my own stupidity. Haven’t figured out how to whip the bike on tight turns with speed.
