If I moved near a place to utilize a bike with that much travel, a firebird would be at the top of my new bike list. Beaut.

Thanks man. Yeah I was riding a stumpy for about a year and a half. Rode this thing at a demo day in Tahoe....and.....I was sold. It amazing how nimble and playful this thing is for a 29er with 170mm of travel. and, it climbs better than my 150mm stumpy did.

The engineers where I work try and get out each Monday to go for a ride after work. One of them has become a good friend of mine, even though I'm just an accountant. He's been helping me build my truck to what it's become (feel free to click on my build link in sig ;)) and got me into Search and Rescue. He finally talked me into going out with them and let me borrow his Mission (sorry, no pic). I had a great time out on the trails, was a total first for me. I did feel bad about bending/breaking his derailleur... oops... After that ride he helped me find something in my price range. I couldn't see spending a boatload since I wasn't sure how into it I'd be. And here it is, my Giant Reign 2, I believe a 2005. Luckily my friend knows what he's doing, he went over the thing top to bottom making sure everything worked, and to even his surprise it did. This may not be much to a lot of you, but to put this in perspective I still rode my Huffy around that was purchased at BEST 20+ years ago (who here remember's upload_2019-8-7_8-1-4.jpg?). I've only been at it a few weeks now, but it's been a lot of fun. Now I just need to keep it up and get in better shape!

Bike looks good! And I am strangely a fan of those red sidewalls. They just work for me. It's not the newest, sure, but all bikes are rad, and you have a bike, therefore you are also rad!

Don't feel bad about being an accountant either. Those engineers always come to us looking for more money come budget season. All my riding friends at work are from our engineering dept too!

Quite awhile after we started working on my truck he told me his wife had made a comment about me not being a very good engineer since I didn't know how to do ... something, can't even remember what. She had just assumed I was an engineer since she knew I worked with him. Now every chance I get I try and tell her "sorry, maybe if I wasn't such a lousy engineer..."

I just got this guy last month. Been doing the DFW trails and loving it. Anyone got any nice places in northern DFW that are a little hidden but fun to ride? I have been to grapevine a lot already.

Whoa...such hostility...be cool dude, to-each-is-own. I respect your opinion, now go ride your ride and I'll ride mine...oh by the way, my brother is a quad...
    happy Karma to you.

Well if it's cheating I'll take it, I still keep my cadence up and now work twice as hard (with the weight) when it's off.
I hear you and it's the same way I felt when I first saw one on the trail. At 62yo I'm still grinding but a lil help I won't refuse.

    Enjoy the ride
