Buddy ended up changing plans and don’t wanna goto a big park like that alone. So. New plan of attack for tomorrow whenever I think of one.

I get about 700-800 climbing ft just doing 20 miles of greenbelts thru my neighborhood so while it certainly isn't mountainous....it isn't completely flat either. On 1 of my maps of Cypresswood, 8 miles had 1709ft of climbing....12.4 at Lake Houston state park had 1988 of climbing ft........Flint Ridge in Woodlands 8.4 miles had 2624 of climbing ft...............again, not really even hilly but not really flat as driving around on streets makes you think either.

That freeride512 story is pretty sick. I really liked the video Jeff Kendall-weed put together on it. I think it’s the second half but the whole video is good

I’m gonna check it out soon! Just gotta find a buddy or buddies to go with as I don’t wanna goto a hardcore park like that alone. Definitely getting more comfortable every ride though. Did 16.5 miles today

Also... man it’s harder to find buddies to ride with than I thought cause whenever you get a day off and wanna try to get some serious riding in... its kinda tricky to find people that can ride 20-30 miles in a day without dying even tho 20 is child’s play to some.

Making the switch to clip-ins and this thread solidified my choice on the CB Mallet E, but coming from flats would you guys recommend the long spindle version or standard?

Yep, chasing and/or waiting on people or ridin solo?...........chasing/waiting starts sucking pretty quick.........ask me how I know, lol..............as far as 20-30 miles....just depends on the ride, the weather, how much water you wanna carry, time constraints, etc.......the dying part is not an issue. Knowing your limits is kinda key though. Intervals is a thing.

Walnut Creek. First time getting to experience real downhill and switch backs. I am 10000% not comfortable or smooth at hitting berms with speed and need to figure out how to whip the bike around.

Also. Fuck this 27.5+ tire lol. Things get heavy after a while.

So. Started to have some shifting issues halfway into the day. I know I’ve been riding this bike a ton and pretty hard so it was only a matter of time.

It shifts slow and sometimes it skips in the higher(?)(big) gears. Should I YouTube it and look at it myself or take it to a shop and watch them as they work on it to get an idea and ask a bunch of questions ?

Are you talking your roscoe? If so, have you lubed the chain since you got it?

Are you using bike specific lube?

Slow shifting could just be some cable stretch in the shifter cable. Since your bike is fairly new that would make sense, especially since you’ve been riding a lot. You can add tension to the cable by twisting the knob out at the shifter, a quarter turn at a time then check shifting. There should be a ton of YouTube videos on that. Does your shop offer free first tuneups? Might not be a bad idea to see if you can watch them.

Yea cause I popped in a bike shop to kill some time last weekend and the dude lubed it while we were talking for free.

And hmm I might go do that then.
