Yeah cables are a good start before you mess with anything else. Just make small changes because it’ll go bad fast

Cable stretch no problem....can tuna fish and bikes all day, pianos are on their own. Best simplest cleanest chain lube IMO = clean ride white lightning. Never fails and makes chains last and last.

If your slipping you probably need a new cassette and chain.

Highly doubt it, bike too new. Money on simple cable stretch adjustment. Like the bolinas ridge....scored a frame and built one up couple yrs ago. Rode it just the other day.

here's my bolinas ridge...might be older than yours, since no disc mounts. Scored frame only on the cheap and threw the gunmetal blue LX 3x9 group on it I had most of laying around. Got the blue vbrakes/levers after building the bike to complete the groupset. It's a tractor for sure........

Yeah it might not have enough tension to move the Derailleur as far as it should move. Usually the symptom is slow shifting.

    Yeah.
I used to work across from there and hit those trails a bunch, but that was 10 years ago now. They actually put in some downhill trails? Not a ton of elevation, but probably enough.

Yes sir. It’s not flying down a mountain but it’s enough to get some speed

Nah, far west side of H-town.......been ridin everywhere in the state since 1992, back when they started making dirt bikes for adults, lol. Outgrew bmx before bmx was an acronym....aka yamaha motobike back in mid 70s. Outgrew sizewise but never outgrew the dirt mindset!

I just picked up a giant fathom, came out to around 1200. Demo’d Quite a few different brands, ended up with this one. Been riding it for about a month and I’m pretty stoked.

Awesome! I went to slick rock in utah a few years back. Man that was fun, but definitely not like here in SA.

Took the bike back to where I bought it from because it wasn’t downshifting right at all.

They “fixed it” (I watched) and sent me on my way but upon riding I noticed it wasn’t fixed. So I didn’t wanna be a dick and confront em

Went to a diff shop and they knew immediately it was the B tension. They showed me how to check it and change it and all that (so now I know) and were shocked when they heard the previous shop just looked at it literally 5 minutes prior lol.

He said my B tension was wayyyyy off. Apparently a common thing on my bikes. They showed me upgrades I could do which was a lot cheaper than I expected ($120 for the next step up shifter/derailer). But I should be good for a while and will hopefully give it hell in Austin tomorrow.
