Took rear wheel apart, and replaced stripped nipple (yeah, that happens often, lol) trued rim and hammered the crap out of a longtime unridden bike in midday sun.....'94 Diamondback Vertex still gots it. Love the dual control brifter action for break from the norm on rest of bikes. Actually have these on 2 bikes. That crazy twisted radial lace up front made some cool spirograph in motion patterns on the ground in the sun. Found it sorta hypnotizing. Stone age 26er hardtail is still very entertaining ride in this day and age of hypertech. OK, technically FS with suspension seatpost. Coil fork has extra firm coil stuffed in it and has held up great for what it is. No stupid topout klunking either. I ride it all. Ended the ride by hitting sonic and getting lunch to go on it. Was funny, the dude bringing out the food kept looking for a car..............

Just got it stolen yesterday and some idiot got popped with it riding around town last night... so grateful and lucky to have it back in my possession. Apparently this particular individual likes to steal and flip them... not today and not for a long while according to the detective. It's a 2012 but she still rips and I didn't realize how much I gave a shit about until it was gone (since it's just a bike in the grand scheme of things). It will live in my living room or on the trail from now on (some people are huge assholes). Be warned. Be Grateful. Be Happy.

    Yeah.
Yeah, cool that it got recovered, doesn't seem like that happens very often! But @T@co_Pr3runn3r -- you, sir, kind of have a problem.

I thought a 7 yr old bike locked outside the front of my apartment was safe for an hour :anonymous: (literally an hour). Also had a cable lock. It looks like it took the guy 3 tries to cut it... will be using lots of metal (aka big chain, big U-lock, etc) if I need to lock it somewhere in the future.

I had a pair of road bikes stolen off of my second story balcony. Its literally 35 feet above the sidewalk. They either pulled up some crazy ninja/parkour shit to climb a (not very stable) tree and jump about 5 feet from the tree to the balcony, to get on it, or they put a tall extension ladder up and pulled them down and drove off with them. (luckily they didn't take my mountain bike, which was about the cost of the two road bikes they stole combined) Now I keep my bikes inside my apartment, even though space is limited already.

    Yeah.
Well. Yeah. That's the obvious solution.

I'm torn between thinking that is good thing and that's a shame.

Don’t you like my Pro Flex? It’s only around 25 years old!

Please elaborate, I don't know how that feels and fear I never will.

Wait, let me go look at that bike again.

    Yeah.
Um, a 400mm stem and weird tires that look like tubeless inserts? Sorry, I can't look at it anymore, this half-chub and need to take a crap at the same time is messing me up.

    OH! I get it now.

Here it is up close. 1/8 scale. I made it totally from scratch 25 years ago.
Full suspension works, wheels spin while pedaling, and steers. It’s an exact copy of my real bike.
