I'm giving him (13yr) a hard time now because its winter and he and a friend are parked in front of the Xbox.
But, true story, he could ride a bike before he could walk. He grew up with me doing Mtn Bike races and having bikes all about inside the house. He first took off his training wheels at 3yrs then for good at 4yrs. The day we took off his training wheels for good we went on an 8 mile ride!
We just finished building a Mtn bike for him from the frame up. We worked on the weekends and he pressed in the headset himself and I had him literally turn every nut and bolt so he would really know how it all goes together. He is very proud of his Cannondale as he really built it himself.
I am getting him interested in working on the truck as well. This weekend we are replacing the headlamps in the 4Runner together.

Did you every settle with a Motobecane? If so, are you happy with the purchase? The online discounts from BikesDirect seem worth it! Any feedback on those bikes from TW?

We actually have some pretty decent trail systems here in FL lots of old abandoned rock quarries. And its sunny florida, no snow, we ride year round. YouTube Alafia MTB, Santos MTB, Carter road MTB, Boyette MTB. Damn now I want to go ride.

Yeah the hardest part (funniest part) was getting him to go with clipless pedals. But really to get some one into this sport you have to be patient and take it easy on them. Start on really easy trail (think XC).
