    So stock.
I always thought a decent application for a wireless dropper was on an XC race bike where you wanted to be able to trade off descending capability vs. weight depending on the course at hand. Being able to quickly swap between a dropper and a carbon post the night before a race would be pretty slick. Combine this with something like a Fox 34SC or RS SID and having a decent selection of tires would make for a pretty versatile set-up.

I really want to get a downhill bike, but I have to keep reminding myself that I don't ride enough park lol
The santa cruz is packed up to go to Brazil bc I will live there for a few months.

Just picked up a new 2020 Scott Genius 920, replacing my Banshee Spitfire. Had to swap over my brakes and seat because the TRP trail g-specs and the Ergon saddle I just couldn't give up.Now to wrap in PPF to protect from "Send It" damages.PXL_20210210_011626026.jpg

lol this maybe is true.. I rode the Scott Gambler and Specialized Demo. It's mind blowing how easy they are to ride vs my enduro. I think I would buy a yt tues if I had a good group to carpool to the bike parks

As someone who has never ridden a park bike might I ask how they are "mind blowing easy to ride"? An honest question from a trail/hardtail rider.

The downhill bike has crazy good small bump sensitivity that allows it to float over most of the trail. I'm an athlete: I go to the gym for 6 years, super strong, good swimmer, and bike a lot. And despite all my strength and endurance, my enduro will have me beat in 1/2 day of doing DH runs. The DH bike will have me going a lot longer. As a race bike, the DH bike will plow through most rock gardens while the shorter travel bikes need to pick good (slower) lines. The downside of DH bike is that its heavy, so it doesn't jump as good as a trail bike.

The difference is huge. I introduced a friend to mountain biking at a park. He rented the Scott gambler and he had no prior experience before that, or another bike to compare it to. He rode that Scott all day and then we switched bikes. I was an actual missile down the mountain and I waited a long time for him. He comes rolling up "Holy shit! How do you ride this thing?! It beats you up!"

I feel like DH bikes are only good if you live near the park, race, or got money to burn. Its one of those things that you don't need, but as you progress, you will know when its time that you need it. My friend after 2 seasons on a jekyll, the jekyll was so shot from park riding that he finally bought a DH bike to race.

In my area finding a DH bike isn't gonna happen but I was thinking they probably don't climb well due to "suspension bob" and weight. I've debated going full squish but at my level my mid fat Fuse is enough for the trails really.

DH doesn’t climb well. But lockout helps a lot.

DH is super difficult to pedal up hill. Next time you travel, look for a bike park and rent 1.

I was going to buy a fuse as a 2nd bike for my local trails because it seems like a very capable hardtail. But my work bonus from 2020 was generous, and the Santa cruz came on classifieds for a good price

    Speaking of Santa Cruz.

    https://youtu.be/ioqMYzNIfkw

Little bit on the challenges at Santa Cruz. The short answer, sold out through part of 2022...I guess that's a good problem to have.
Ibis is also in a similar position (oddly, they are sort of neighbors in Santa Cruz).

I bought my 2020 SC Tallboy C R from a guy who had bought the bike in May 2020 and then he sold it to me when he bought a 2021 SC Bronson CC X01 in January 2021. Maybe it was easier to get the high end build because not many people are willing and able to spend $7100 +tax on a mountain bike.

It was interesting to hear how quickly the supply dried up and how long it took to recognize the trend.
