We all miss food from home sometimes. My bro is in MA now and craves nothing but Mexican food when he comes home.

I miss the food and weather! Not the cost of living, traffic or gas prices! Rather be stuck in this humid heat! A pastrami from Giamelas would be awesome right now too!!

Ever have the Pastrami from Santoro's? Beats Giamela's IMO.

Damn... derailing my own thread... and making myself hungry...

@GHOST SHIP Since you in the area you have to try this place.

On Sherman Way right next to the 170 there is a Chevron Station. Inside the gas station is a fast-casual Mexican place called Cilantro Mexican Grill.

I would have never found it if someone didn't take me there but the food is fantastic. The Carne Asada Burrito and Surf and turf are my favorites.

they say the cow tongue is even better but I haven't tried it yet. Parking can suck and it does get busy around lunch time.

Wana Iguana - fish tacos in Santa Clarita. The white sauce goes in the tacos and is amazing.

Well, taco fixins anyway. Had our seafood & wine fest crew over to can tuna this weekend. A yearly thing we do with local albacore. About 100# each year. L-R is a 50/50 mix of local grass fed/finished beef & local pork chorizo sausage, pork tenderloin and then some of that albacore tuna. No pics of assembly but they were all tasty!

That looks good. A lot of people don’t know that the recipe for al pastor tacos (literally translates to: “the shepherd’s” tacos) originally came from middle eastern farmers and shepherds that migrated to North America, specifically parts of Mexico. They brought their local food with them and combined it with the food of their new home. Cooking meat on a vertical rotating spit Was not common in Mexico prior to this. A lot of the same spice pallet in both cultures so it makes sense that we’d like each other’s food.
