I’m a first gen mountain biker and I was surprised when these pads became popular.never had a problem putting bikes in the box of my trucks.i did see a tailgate fly open while shuttling up the mountain and I’m not gonna lie,I kinda chuckled when 25grand worth of bikes ate shit and went flying. To each their own I guess.

    Looking for suggestions...
I cannot wrap my head around why this is an issue. The Dakine DLX pad cost me $115. It really does seem to be made for Tacomas. It has been well worth it. Not just for bikes. It's nice when laying other cargo in the bed. After putting it on, I can't imagine not having it. I've pissed away that money on much dumber things... At least this isn't going up in smoke or filtered through my liver. This thing will last and serve a purpose for life. Keep the receipt and you'll never worry again. Lifetime guarantee.

Okay... I bought a Dakine pad for my taco when I got it. the things is a PIA to get on, but I have a system now and it works pretty well. Generally carry 4 bikes at a time and this is really the only easy option. I welded up a rack that goes over the tonneau and it holds four as well, but that is my winter method. Be really careful with the outer bike(s) and the QR at the hub-broke my tail light cover with it swinging into the truck. Otherwise it is great.

fox -- perfect for bikes and a tad bit of extra padding for surfboards ... the small straps that could hold the frame all broke -- but I never really used them anyways -- everything else has held up well for the past several years parked outside in TX. I particularly like the length as I see many that only go halfway down the tailgate. '05 so I don't have to worry about a backup camera lol.

I just got a DCLB and my bike fits in the back, but still eyeing the tailgate pad. This is the first thread I’ve seen on this site with people hating / trolling.

I don't hate mine. it is just hard to put on and I had to replace a $275 tail light when a tire swung and broke it. Not many options-works well otherwise.
