I’m sure ppl have had worse things happen to their tacoma. Here my fu**ed up day pic. Driving home from work on freeway minding my own business and heard the loudest god aweful boom in my life. I swore I shot at. Just when I had my truck all dialed in too.

Bro I have not idea!! Had plenty of rock damage in my life. No construction on freeway. No big rigs near by. No over passes. I didn’t see anything. But it was such a loud boom. Rocks usually make a chip or crack sound

I've always wondered what it would cost to replace a the windshield with the camera and stuff mounted to it.

Your right I should be grateful I didn’t get hurt or lose control and have a worse day. But it still stings. A new windshield in southern Cali — about $900. Buddy has a 2019 just had his replaced. I have a $250 deductible. I’m taking it to my buddys body shop and having his window guy do it. I don’t want safelite. I don’t know if I’m getting a guy who been doing this 6 years or 6 days. Sorry I don’t want anyone practicing on my truck.

When my wife was commuting 120 miles a day we had a prius and she picked up rock chips on a weekly basis, anyways, after the 6th or 7th chip, it was close enough to one of the others and finally spidered so we had it replaced, the windshield was about $500, and the calibration was $500. I didn't actually notice any failure of the TSS before it was re-calibrated, no system errors or anything. My understanding was that if the technician doesn't unplug the sensor then it doesn't trip a warning sign. Not positive on those details but since it was all covered under our comprehensive coverage i calibrated though the dealer anyways

I remember my old 1968 gmc custom camper special. That thing was a tank of hard steel and when things happened to it ….eh.. battle scars add character I’d say. My brand new shiny plastic truck… I cringe at bird crap

ya they had to calibrate my buddys too. I believe that’s what brought the price tag to the 900-1000 range. I call BS. UNLESS it’s been in a impact Collision and the vehicle is off during replacement why do it need calibration? I don’t know but it sounds like a beef up cost.

I know this is wrong but I was hoping for some worse pic to make me feel better like “ I was driving home and out of nowhere a blue whale hit my truck”

don’t laugh it could happen. Apparently a piece of the moon fell off and hit my windshield.

If y'all crack your windshield a lot, you should call or check via your insurance app on how much it raises your monthly cost if you lower your deductible for windshield replacements. I lowered mine down to a $50 deductable and it only went up $12 total for the whole year lol.

I hit 7 deer in the 13 years I owned my 2000 Tacoma. Never any more than cosmetic damage to the front bumper. Just pop the blinker assembly back into the housing, replace the bulb if it shattered, and away we goooo!

I average one new windshield a month in my work truck. Usually from some shitty trucker with an untarped load of gravel.
