Just picked this up last weekend...a 2011 Nomad UltraLight. 3603 lbs dry, hitch weight about 560 lbs with two cylinders of gas, spare tire and battery. I purchased a weight distributing hitch, and the ride is smooth and controllable. Only two of us, so not much weight besides the trailer, and no extra toys, so we are probably good. I do feel the trailer on hills, but I just keep it in 4th and it pulls OK. 60mph is easy, and I don't push beyond that, so the truck doesn't seem to strain at all. 12.2mpg with the trailer so far.

    Hi, flattie-
I think the actual trailer (glass) length is 19 feet, as the overall is 22.5 ft including the hitch. I'm happy I went small, there is no drama, and we can concentrate on the fun of camping instead of how to fix stuff... : )

Pretty much will be towing this every single day come June. Now need to get this Tacoma setup to handle the task and not be sagging all the time.

1972 25ft Airstream Trade Wind - Fully restored and converted into a kitchen on wheels. New weight 5000lbs.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I love those campers. Some new mirrors should help. ;) How about a picture of the inside?

I'd do airbags and a very good WD hitch. Even then I think I would stick to mostly flat land which, since it's a restaurant, shouldn't be to hard to do. 5000 lbs is sort of the cutoff for comfortable Tacoma towing. That being said it's still legal and doable.

Yeah it was a fun road trip back to Denver in it. Purchased in Bend Oregon and spent a week living out of it on my friends property in Eugene and then on the road back to Denver.

A little too big for my recreational needs, I think a 16ft or 19ft Bambi would be my next purchase if a reasonable one came available.

Once I got back to Denver, it was stored at my builders shop until they fully gutted it and strengthened the frame in prep to start building it out and restoring the exterior. Was already polished but many windows were fully removed and replaced with full piece of fresh aluminum.

Its coming along few more weeks and it will be done.

Its a lot of fun and was a shame to gut such a clean trailer but it needed to be done. Will be a lot of fun when Im using it every single day.

That airstream is sweet! A bambi would be a nice size trailer for recreation.

^ This. If your having trouble stopping did you ever consider some good trailer brakes or, gasp, a bigger truck? Not knocking you, but it's safer for us all.

It's about 5700lbs plus trailer. Trailer has brakes. There's no motors in it so it's considerably lighter. I was towing it home as project.
The plan was never to tow with the taco one completed. Factory brakes on our trucks flat out suck. I upgraded to hawk pads last year and Bosch premium rotors, still crap. I'm buying ebc yellows and slotted rotors now.

aires 3D mats, scan gauge II, rear differential breather relocation, and bakflip G2 bed cover.
Trailer is 23' and 3870 dry. The Tacoma has no problem pulling it. Transmission temps average 163 degrees while pulling it. I use a Equalizer weight distribution and sway control hitch.IMG_1582 (2).jpg

^ What gauge are you using for tranny temps?
