Check with a dealer in your area about the trans mission cooler. There are two in Albuquerque, one said no and the other did it. Same price as any shop in town and helps with warranty when a dealer does the work.

Towed this around on Sunday.... for no reason other than I thought it would be fun to hook it up and see how it handled. It's my parent's pontoon and we normally tow it with a 2006 Duramax (overkill).

The trailer axle configuration is less than ideal (heavy on tongue weight) and overall I think the rig is somewhere around 3,500 - 4,500 lbs.

The truck is 100% stock suspension. As you can see it doesn't look TOO bad, but it definitely droops a little (really just enough to level it out). Anything more and I definitely would have said it was a bit too much. I had a hard time going anything above 60mph, and settled on just being a slow vehicle doing 55mph (which is actually the only legal speed for a double-axle trailer in MI anyway). For reference, if I were to maintain 70mph I would have been full-throttle, in 3rd gear (auto) and pushing 4,500+ rpm... 60mph was reasonable in 4th gear with a bit of downshifting and 55mph was very reasonable at 2,400rpm in 4th gear.

For those of you wondering, as much as power was an issue, stopping was equally an issue (no trailer brakes). Even if I had a supercharger to compensate for the power I don't think I could have reasonable stopped this load with the tacoma... It just pushed the truck too hard, and on a slippery surface I'd be worried about it pushing the truck out of control.

This is the primary towing that I do with my new 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport ... my 1979 Catalina 22 Sailboat "Blue Skies". The boat weighs about 2400 lbs and I would put the trailer in at another 500 lbs. In 4WD Low, it pulled it up this ramp with no problems at all. The drive home was uneventful - I love this truck.

I towed this 46.2 miles on my ball and bumper up a slight incline on about 1/4 of my trip and I had no problems.

My 2.7 tranny temp went to 190 within 2 miles on flat terrain pulling a 2300 lb. travel trailer. It had a small 5x11x3/4 cooler at the time. Yesterday it got a new 11x11x1.5 (28,000 gvr) to keep it from overheating.
The tru-cool cooler comes with an installation kit and decent instructions
