Here is what I bought the truck to tow for originally. Unfortunately family grew and with 2 dogs we use the SUV. 2300 lbs empty. Always use a WD hitch to be safe with the winds out here.

Tried to get the ska-doos washed and waxed. Place was closed for that ever allusive California rain.

my motorcycle weighs #600 with fuel. We figure about #400 in gear. #100 for propane and battery
Full fresh water tank about #300
So Im figuring about #3800-#3900 ready to camp

I have the factory tow pkg. on my 05 pre-runner axcess cab with V6
I just bought the prodigy2 brake controller
Im also gonna go with an Anderson hitch

    No mountains where we live

Also if Im forgetting to add anything for weight please let me know...Thanks

question for you guys that know more about towing. I'm going to be towing a with my taco for the first time. I'm moving in a month and i will be towing a 6x12 utility trailer weight no more than 3000lbs when loaded as a high estimate. a couple hours of towing will be on a highway at highway speeds when i go get my new mower and the rest will be a couple city, but mostly country roads. should i put my sway bar back on for this or will i be fine without it if i take it slow which is how i drive anyway? i have towed with a different vehicle before but never in one without a sway bar on.

It's not about you driving slow it's what happens in a avoidance situation. Cross winds etc. You need stability. First time towing with it ?? Yea for sure.

I've towed my camper multiple times on all kinds of roads with no problem. On the interstate I will go up to 80mph at times. I tow with weight distribution and sway bar. Very happy owner!

2014 Starcraft 183. 4000lbs dry. One trip so far and the transmission overheated 30 minutes in. Hoping that was a fluke or somehow driver error.

Black Sand Pearl factory paint - flattened "au natural" by tree branches.
I can't believe the travel trailers people are pulling with these tacos. I pull an argo on a 900 pound utility trailer with mine and I feel like it's all it can handle. Transmission gets up to 250 degrees in seconds if I don't pay attention to what I'm doing. 260,000km of off roading with 35" tires probably doesn't help it any. Maybe I should replace the old rig.

Off-road should have the trans cooler. Never had any issues with mine. Towed in 4th about 60 mph, with tanks empty.
