Pulls like a dream! Did not experience any sway at 60 mph.
On a fairly steep grade 60 mph at about 2300 rpms.:benchpress:

image.jpg Picked this up last week and hauled it 60 miles the first go around. It's 28" and dry weight is 6,100 lbs. With weight distribution, sway control, and trailer brakes, my 2016 TRD 4x4 handles quite well at an average speed of 65 mph and 3.5k-4K rpm's. My mpg was at 8.1. Not much wiggle room with the max tow weight of 6,400 therefore when I tow it there will be little to nothing in the trailer.

I'm towing a Casita. we just got the Taco a month ago, and the Casita a couple weeks ago, and I just got the WDH setup going yesterday, and took it for a 2nd test drive today, 10-15 miles around the county, some freeway, some back roads, bunch of hills, and I think this time I got the right tension on the WDH, and fine tuned the brakes, so we're ready to launch wednesday on our trial run with this rig.

I don't have a picture of my Taco + Casita yet, should have brought my camera and taken one today.

    here's the Casita,
    [IMG]

When we towed the Casita home, it porpoised a lot on bumps, uncomfortably so, because my Taco is a TRD Off Road sitting on big tall KO2's and soft Bilsteins. Some research on Casita forums etc, a WDH is the solution. So I got a lightweight WDH, and discovered the chain stirrup brackets have to clamp onto the frame rails exactly where the dual propane tanks go. Solution is to weld up some outriggers, well, I don't weld, but my neighbor do (retired master boilermaker for Bechtel), so I scrounged the required foot of 3" C channel and 1.5" square box, cut and ground to suit using my 4.5" angle grinder (VERY useful tool!), then offered him $100 + a jug of his favorite hooch, done deal, he welded up the bits Saturday, then put them on Sunday morning.

no 'porpoising' with that when you go over dips and bumps in the road ?

frankly, the sway control seems superfluous on this rig. the PO towed the Casita with a non-4x4 Tundra and said sway control bar, but the WDH acts as a natural sway control... When I drove the Taco TRD + Casita home 200+ miles without trailer brakes or sway control, I felt no tendency at all to sway side to side, just the porpoise thing on dips/bumps, bad at times, especially on surface streets with drainage dips at intersections and such.

Finally got the camper out this weekend, went down to Cape Cod. This was the first pull with the new lift and set up on the truck. The Taco handled it like a champ, as I knew it would. So here is the low down, outside temp was 80*F, from home to campground is 75miles, driving in 4th, Scangage read engine temp between 180 and 210*F and the Trans Temp read between 190 and 235*F. Obviously the higher temp numbers is when I was hopping on it to go up an incline.

gmann that is a sweet rig!
We will be going from Portsmouth RI to Brewster on the cape (Nickerson State Park) in a few weeks.
My tacoma pulls my 25' TT nicely...I tend to get a running start on any grades and holds 60 MPH with ease.

Thanks Rhody, that's about where I tow, around 60mph, and always in 4th gear. I have always said these trucks are under rated. I envy you camping in State Parks, I prefer to camp in state parks but my GF doesn't like it. She wants full showers and flush toilets, I don't understand the problem, we use the toilet and shower in the camper, Women...I hate camping on top of other campers, and I prefer the woods. I will continue to convince her...

Nice we used to go to a place in Dennisport across the street from the beach when I was a kid. Still more of a regular campground then what you go to but I love that area of the Cape
Well I have a bunch of kids and no toilet in my pop up so no State parks in my immediate future. Lol. Hey when you were down there did you try a great little breakfast place called Crabapples?
