The tractor is 5200 with the backhoe on it. Trailer is 1500. I took it easy and it did fine, even with some steep hills.

I'm going to drag this to Canada 400 miles one way, along the way I will be picking up some windows.
First pic way too much overhang 7' or so
    [IMG]
If I add 6" to the front ... this brings the ladder ( 20' long) up enough so I can slide the ladder .. giving me my 4' overhang!
Oh ya the Taco has 311,000 + miles ..:mudding:

How does that tow in the hills? I'm getting almost the exact trailer (19BHS Extreme), and am curious

I haven't taken it up any mountain passes but I've pulled it up some hills here around town the truck has no problem. I installed a cooler on my truck because it didn't have one. I towed up a few hills today and my tranny temp never got higher than 190 but ambient temp out side was 90. Once I hit the flats temp would drop right down 150- 170.

I just returned from vacation at our summer cabin in Vermont and hauled my motorcycle up. I was able to put 900 twisty mountain miles on the bike in three weeks.

On the return trip I added an old tractor that I found to tool around with. The Taco handled the 3000+ mile round trip without a hiccup.

Old setup in avatar, new set up. Not sure if I like it yet or not. On the highway it's good, but I have a section going over a low mountain (here in VA) and the truck worked a bit. All the other tracks are up in PA, OH or NY, so that's a lot more mountain driving. I had no real issues with the open trailer.

    A few minor things...
24' Pontoon boat. Custom built by me and a friend, It's pretty light weight but it's like towing a sail on the highway.

2016 Tacoma TRD Sport tows it pretty well all things considered!

This is roughly 30 miles north of Halfway which is about 60 miles NE of Baker. Really pretty country and very high elevation. I agree, most of eastern Oregon is desert but not in the Willowa's.

For moutians, your definetlly gonna struggle a bit, my open car hauler (around 5500 with a car on it) was working my truck pretty good. It does help if you downshift into third if your an auto once the truck starts to get low in the revs

Do you mean downshift to stay in the powerband or for some other reason? Hell, I don't even know where the powerband is in this truck, I can drive it all day and never crack 1500 (without the trailer of course).

What are you pulling @Gaunt596 ?

Yes, downshift to stay in the powerband, peak tourqe is at 3700 RPM on 93 octane, and 4000 on 87 or less. And I'm pulling a 15' solid deck steel car hauler, it's about 1800 empty, and usually has my Rallycross Focus on it, which is probably around 2800 or so without the interior and a full tank of gas. I also tend to put stuff in the car to help out the weight and balance of the truck, so it's around 5500 all together when I head out.

    20170610_063452.jpg

This picture is deceiving, I was parked straddling a ditch so it looks like I've got sag, it rides dead level with the OME pack in the rear.

Edit: if you aren't already, put your shifter in 4 instead of D, so the trans doesn't hunt between 4th and OD on the highway

Oh yeah, I'm already there. Hauled the open trailer for a year an a half first. Went to mid-Ohio and Pitt Race with zero drama (except the electrical connection slipping out).
You must haul a lot of spare parts.
My 944 is about 2900 (partially gutted) and my steel trailer was (I think about 1500#). I'm going to get the enclosed with the car and spare tires/tools weighed this weekend. I might be suffering a little buyer's remorse.
