Here's my rig ready to roll out for a weekend camping trip. It's a 27' Flagstaff Super Light. About 4300lbs dry, not sure what it is loaded down but we pack lightly (without water) so that the Taco can pull it through the hilly West Virginia roads. Don't think I would ever try to haul the 6500lbs  that the truck claims it can do. Maybe on flat roads, but we don't have such a thing around here.

Haven't thought about that yet. With the WD hitch the rear only sags 1". Trailer tracks behind fine with the current setup. Only problem is the pulling power uphills so I have to watch how much we load up before we leave for a trip. My wife thinks we should get another truck just for hauling it. But she keeps pointing out 1/2 ton trucks with 4.8L. I really don't seeing that being much better than the Taco as far as pulling power goes. Yea, they have a bigger motor but the curb weight of the truck is more. I think to see any pulling power advantage we would need at least a 5.3L or better. I would just upgrade to a Tundra but it won't fit in the garage.

Perfect opportunity to convince the wife of a supercharger:D! More power and same weight. It would also cost a ton less than a whole new truck plus the insurance for that truck over time etc.

Believe me I thought about that. But for the price of a SC and getting it installed, I could get an older 1/2 ton truck for near the same price and the wife would have a 4wd for those snowy days.

not quite ready to tow the 16' Scamp we picked up a couple of months ago. the truck i bought earlier this month has 4-flat wiring and i need 7 round and a brake controller installed. it will be a "later on" project as our Trailblazer will be fine for the rest of the year. camper only weighs 2200 lbs loaded so i'm thinking the V6 Tacoma will be ok.

Nice!! Did you buy the Scamp new or used? We are pondering one in the future. I think it would be great for late fall and winter camping. I just need to think more about the price.

it's a 2006. just about went the new route for 15,500, but this one popped up 150 miles from home for only 7000. i've got some web sites saved that cater to small fiberglas trailers being sold if you want the links. my wife camps alot more than me and we wanted something she could manage easily by herself. let me know, keith

The links would be great, thank you. We have been looking, but it seems that most of the egg shells are 1500 miles or more from us!! Thanks.

Is this the "3 place" trailer echo makes? I am interested in purchasing one.

Wow! Well after going through 32 pages, I am no longer worried about my upcoming buy. Here I am concerned about a 800# trailer with a couple of quads on it, weighing less than 2000# with gear. Then I see these guys pulling 20+' travel trailers and tickling 7000# and saying the Taco handles it great?

Thanks for all the posts guys!

That is a great trailer. Where on earth did you pick up that gem?

That is a great location for those gauges. I might have to steal that idea when I get my airlift set.

We went out to Utah a few weeks ago (from St Louis) pulled the 19' airstream with the Tacoma, no probs. Then went 4 wheeling while we were there..

I tow the trebuchet in the background occasionally. Looking for a picture of it on a trailer... (trebuchet is not fully assembled in this picture)
