in a couple weeks I will be towing my BMW M3 from CA to FL with the 2011 Double Cab Short bed Tacoma. I hope I will not have problems and I'll definitely post pics.

A few years ago I use to transport cars for a living. I would never attempt to haul a car that far with a Tacoma . Too many things could go wrong.

The tacoma doesnt care if its 3000 miles or 300 miles of towing.

As long as everything scales out okay and safe a prudent towing habits are followed I dont imagine any problems.

Agree. As long as your truck is properly set up (proper hitch, brake controller, upgraded rear suspension, etc.) and the trailer is in good shape (trailer brakes) and you maintain a reasonable speed then I think you can do this.
Having said that - I bet you'll be at your GCVW with the car & trailer loaded.

Hopefully you have planned for everything;truck has tow pkg, trailer disconnects, planned out your route ( mpg's will change drastically) and you have a little time behind the wheel with that set-up....

Towing does NOT have to be a big bit@h if you go into it smart...

Maine to Florida with a Honda Pilot towing a 26' Grady White on a dual axle trailer...not one problem and went straight through on I-95 all the way...be smart & be safe.....

Ive been studying everything posted on this forum and I feel pretty confident about doing this long distance towing. I know I'll be on the high side of the weight limitation but definitely not over it. Route is planned out for 5 days with the average travel time of 8.5 hours a day. I just hope the truck will not get burned out due to the duration of time towing but I will definitely be driving the speed limit or a little less.

I would plan 60 mph anything more will kill your fuel mileage big time.
Five days out is plenty enjoy the trip!

I had the door custom built because I'm just 2'6" tall in cowboy boots.:p
It's actually a pretty nice feature because it provides a large opening to access a large storage compartment under the bed from outside without having to carry big items inside & lift up the mattress. It also acts as an emergency exit from the back of the trailer.

    A couple of questions:

    1. What year Tacoma?
    2. What mods did you do to make it able to tow a 21' camper ?

LOL. Well, that's probably the smartest way of traveling down the road with a Smart car. If nothing else, a lot more space for the driver.

I finally towed with my Taco today, needless to say I was very impressed!

I had been stressing out reading about the weak rear springs and what not but my truck barely squatted at all with my Malibu hooked up. And it towed better than my Dodge 1500 used too!!

I ran about 64 at 1900-2000 Rpms consistently and had no issue getting the boat up the launch.

Will post pics tomorrow before I unhitch!!
