BrewDawg, I learned about that within the first 15 minutes of ownership. On the way home, I stopped at the licensing place to do the title transfer. The entrance to the parking lot is a little steep and I just barely dragged the rear gear box on the asphalt. Scared the shit out of some landscaping guy working close by. :D

I'm curious what speed/rpm you run when towing? When I'm towing my 4Runner on a trailer I tend to keep it around 60~65 mph and 2500 rpm. I'm still on stock size tires though.

That is just bad ass! Nice trailer.

I was running around 2500 on flats around 100 KPH, a little over 60 MPH, without pushing too hard in 4th with the AT. On long hills 3000-3300 in 3rd, or 2nd on a good grade holding anywhere from 60-80 KPH. 1.61 kms to a mile.

Truck was built to work. Work it. As a side note, the temp needle never once climbed higher, and it runs better, musta burned all the crap out of it!

All the towing I have done before was with a 3/4 ton V8; so this is my first "little truck" to work with. So far I'm pretty happy with the way it handles working.

With horses/livestock it is the shifting weigjt that gets people into trouble.

That won't make any difference when towing. The big thing will be how well it handles the trailer weight. I have air bags that help my truck support the weight of my trailer/4Runner so it handles pretty good. If you have the stock 3 pack leafs then you might want to reconsider or pick a slower/less packed route.

I hauled horses and cattle a lot in high school with my 3/4 ton and the shifting around always got my attention. It makes it like you are pulling a load in a good crosswind; but without the predictability.

It is a lot better than the stock leafs. Just take it easy on the acceleration, double your braking distance, and slow down for turns; you have to remember there are horses back there trying to stand up. If they trailer well it will be a lot easier for you; if they have never trailered before it can be interesting.

Wow, what does all that weigh? I'm looking at buying a Yamaha 242 boat and it comes under the max with room to spare for fuel, the kids, toys etc... How well does it pull, stop and all that other fun stuff? Any recomendations as far as towing a boat before I make the jump in doing so? So many other questions, I'll just stop now. Thanks!
