I just asked another guy on here about towing his boat...This is the exact boat I plan on getting! How does it do, any mods, stopping power, troubles getting up the ramp etc? Love to hear all of what you have to say....Finally found someone on here that is doing what I plan to do. Be happy to hear what you have to say! Thanks!

First off my family and I love the Boat!!!!!

As far as the truck goes I was pretty comfortable towing it for the first time. It is about 45 min to the lake and mostly backroads. You will have to leave it in 4th for most of the time. Only flat or downhills go to 5th. Expect 10 MPG while towing it. I was actually surprised how well it stopped with the boat, no problems there so far.

Does the trailer have brakes? Do you know how much the trailer and boat weigh? I like to know all of this before I dive into the unknown, at least for me. The manafacturers I think tend to underweigh their items so I wasn't sure if you jumped on a scale or not. I know the tongue weight is 10% +/- a few, wasn't sure how you worked this part out. You have any add ons like a K&N intake to help with power? Thanks for the response!

Trailer has surge brakes. Have not weighed the boat but from the butt dyno I don't feel like I am over doing it. When I hitch it the rear only squats about 1/2 inch or so and i have tsb leafs with aal. I have a k&n intake and the flow-master exhaust, but they are not really for performance because I don't really think they do a whole lot for me in that category. Having a V8 would be nice but for the distance I tow it the Tacoma handles it like a champ.

Blacked out emblems, Weathertech liners, LED interior, tag, and 3rd brake light, reverse light mod, rear TSB, rear diff. breather, added black factory running boards, OR tow hook, and rhino lined UWS low profile box.
Still need to get the leaf spring tsb done, but it tows well without it.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Its a bad pic but it was towing a two place snowmobile trailer with another sled in the bed of the truck.

Sold my 1987 Toyota pickup and it's still a great truck! :)

Got the "new to me" 2003 2WD Tacoma with 2.4L, 5 speed, & 77,000 miles from my Son about a month ago, he's the original owner.

Since buying the Tacoma, installed a Leer Shell with a Thule rail mounted rack, Curt class III trailer hitch, 7 pin connector, and Teconshaw trailer brake control. Tow the aluminum Camplite 11RD Camper that's about 1400 lbs.

Took the Tacoma on the first camping trip this earlier this week and it handled the camper & camping gear nicely. Will start reading threads to learn the best way to firm up the rear suspension, without changing the original height.

Happy Camper with the Tacoma!

I bought a set second hand and they have been great. The truck is a lot more stable when pulling and I can adjust how far down the back sits.

    Hey there gang:
A while back I posted a couple of pix of what I tow. My tacoma is a '02 4wd, v6 with 180K on the clock, and I recently added the Timbren system...okay so here's the 411.
I just did my first long tow, about 750 miles down to Southern NJ, truck, steel trailer (1350 lbs) and car (3100 lbs) + gear etc. I figure I am towing around 5100-5300 lbs) and the tongue weight was balanced at about 10% of trailer load. I was very impressed with my little hauler. Averaged 15.1 mpg (per ultra gauge), watched the engine temp, never went about 212F (yes it was cool out... 50's), and torque load was never over 70%, (long uphill). Overall, with the Timbren, Prodigy P2, and taking it easy the results were impressive. I know the TO bearing is due to be replaced and I will be doing the whole clutch + master clutch cylinder pretty shortly....in short, this little Toyota just keeps on impressing the hell out of me. What a rock solid little vehicle.

Next week off for a 4 hour tow each way to Watkins Glen...........this is looking like a pretty good season, so far..........
