It has a Volvo engine, which is one of it's best features. The Volvo has fly by wire throttle. When you set the throttle, you're actually setting an RPM point that the ECM holds. If you throw the wheel over hard, the engine won't bog down in the turn. Also when a skier or kneeboard cuts hard, it won't bog down / slow down. So its really smooth to drive. If you're out on a really snotty day, you can set a slower "plow" speed that it will happily hold for a smoother ride on the water. Conventional throttle simply can't do these things without a tremendous amount of throttle input. It just makes boating easier.

Very nice, thank you ! Will do some research. May be too much boat for what we are "needing" I like the size, and the fact it has an enclosed head (assuming thats whats is in the port console)

That's what it is. It's a great place to store items. My folding bike is in there now.

Its a Ride 135, had it out once so far but rigging it up is my winter project. Plus is we have tons of lakes in county parks you cant put a big boat in, but they dont care if you put a yak in.

Is this the BS thread for boating?
We just pulled ours into the shop, we’ve owned it for 14 years and haven’t had to do anything major to it.
We let it sit for the past 2 or 3 years and decided that we needed to get it going again.
    Our to do list.
    • Charge batteries (see if they’re salvageable)
    • Replace outboard trim switch
    • Apply water and make sure it will start
    • Replace GPS and fish finder with Lawrence HDs10
    • Replace latch on anchor rope bay
    • Replace handrail anchor point (s)
    • Replace water pump impeller and lower unit oil
    • Replace fire extinguisher and flares
    • Replace the switch panel so we can see what the switches do
    • Wash
And I’m not sure if it will happen before we take it out once or twice but I want to go over the hull and repair any divots, remove the decals and paint the hull and apply new decals. I also want to replace the trailer jack and winch.

Had time to take our SxS back to the shop to pull the boat out and fire it up, we hooked it up to a fresh 5 gallon tank and cranked it for about 20 seconds and she fired right up and ran good. Water pump kit and lower unit oil are sitting on the parts counter waiting to be installed and we just picked up new batteries this morning.
We couldn’t remember how we had installed the GPS antenna on our other boat so we broke the antenna on disassembly, new antenna should be in Friday.
We also replaced the handrail ends last night so the list is getting shorter.

Also, we replaced the throttle handle/trim switch and after some meter work we found out one of the relays that controls the trim motor was bad which was the cause of trim up but no trim down, we replaced both relays and all is good.

I’ll post some pics when I get some.

Sooo I’m redoing my whaler. I bought a 1966 13 classic. Sanded it faired it and barrier coated it. New paint and I redid all the wood furniture. I just got the motor on today. Took awhile as my sailboat is the primary toy.

It looked ok when I bought it. But to live on a mooring it needed barrier coat to keep it dry.

Since it lives on a town morning my little sister owns technically it’s her boat. I bought it for her and do all the work. She made me name it “Reptar” my decal guy is designing a reptar logo with the tail to wrap under like the harpoon on the whaler logo. From 100 feet it should look like a green Whaler logo. But Covid has shut him down for now.

Question for those with small kids.

-What size boat did you buy , and what size did you wish you bought ?

-What seat configuration did you go with , and what do you wish you sent with?

We are debating 18.5 vs 19.5 and looking at a bunch of runabouts / bow-riders in the 2005-2010 range. Sea Rays, Bayliners, Maxums. Questions are back to back seats vs side bench style , how much storage we need , how often will it be is four vs with friends , etc.

    Thanks for the advice.

Not really my boat. Buddy had boat trouble and his wife had the truck so he called me. 5500 lbs boat and motor. my taco is a 4 banger with standard tow package. We did ok as the ground was flat but it took a long time to stop.
Marine dealer could not believe I pulled it in
