If you had wheelie bars, you could accelerate with an iceboat but you are limited without them. For us, the wind that really scoots us is from behind, pushing the bow down, not trying to lift it.

Not a boat pic, but a pic from a boat:
    20170506_092928.jpg
A cool early May morning on 110,000 acre Big Sam Rayburn, the #1 rated fishery in the USA. I had just caught a 25-fish limit of crappie off a brush pile a buddy and I had constructed and sunk about forty yards over there in 21 feet of water, on a 10 o'clock tangent in the picture. It lies just inside the bimini top strap in the wind-rippled water. Picture taken from the wind-protected mouth of a little cove. I was frying bacon for a bacon and egg breakfast in the boat. I stay in that cove often, fishing various brush piles, napping in a hammock between morning and afternoon creels. I also camp in the boat out on the water, sleep in the hammock, to avoid paying the campsite fee. (Can you believe it is ILLEGAL to camp on the shores of this massive lake? Law put in place to drive campsite recruitment and associated fees to help fund Corp of Engineers campgrounds. MADNESS! BUT, they can't charge you to sleep out on the lake! Yet...) You wouldn't believe how the fish come alive during the night. Some BIG blow-ups that scare the crap out of you, even though they are just big bass! Life lived here this way, at this pace, for days, well...it doesn't get much better for me. God is good.

    20170407_194122.jpg
I hope to use this rig to fish the entire 1200 miles of shoreline of 140,000+ acre Toledo Bend Reservoir when I retire. A life limited only by the need for gasoline. I'm working on that one.

P.S. Bacon grease on your plastic worms. Stays on the old ring worms best, longest. Try it...

What kind of boat are you on? It kinda looks like a Whaler.

Yes, we are kind of spoiled having two awesome fisheries so close together. Thanks!

It's a Kenner. Was a wonderful boat line. Then Johnny Morris bought the make from the Kenner brothers. Then he shut it down in 2006 because it was too much competition for his boat lines. It's a 2005 18V130, their old rolled-edge gunwale boat, not the boat with a cap on it. Does everything I need a boat to do.

    20141125_163031.jpg
The only other boat I'd buy if I ever wear this one out will be the 19-foot Blue Wave with a 150 on the back.

In his case, he had already used the spare and then had another flat. Chaining the axle up keeps the flat tire off the ground, so it's not destroyed. It wasn't a permanent solution, it was a limp home solution.

Since learning of his experience, I now carry a patch kit everywhere I go in addition to my spare. I recently found a nail and found it easier to patch and air up then to change to the spare.

that scenario is less about a flat tire and more about a bearing or hub or brake system failure that is not an easy roadside fix. obv changing a flat is easier than 3 wheeling,

I've got the same boat man, it makes a great fishing boat. Had it 2 years and still loving it. Looks like you've got an aluminum prop on there which I did as well, after swapping out to a SS prop with slightly different pitch I can get about 33 mph solo and 31 mph or so with a friend and gear. That's about 2 mph better than with the stock prop and it gets on plane faster too.

I believe it's 14 pitch and 13" diameter but I can look again later. It's smaller than the aluminum one my motor came with but it has deeper cups in the blades. I just took it to the local prop repair wizard and he hooked me up. He says they throw whatever they've got on the boats they sell at Bass Pro which is where I bought mine.

    I remember when a Mastercraft didn't produce a wake. 16 off.

I wish they didn't, would make fishing in the summer a lot more enjoyable on some lakes.

Do you still have one? We're throwing an event on Lake Travis in a few weeks.

I never had one. I had a lesser boat that granted me access to the water, and once there got to ski behind a Mastercraft and a couple of Hydrodynes. Great ski boats, that's for sure.

It was a bummer they quit making the Prostar 214/X14. The last of the truly family friendly ski boats.

We have had a Tristar 190 since new in 1988 and just picked up a 2011 X14 for the extra space on the water. Huge difference going to the 21' X14 with the swim platform compared to the 19' Tristar that has the built in platform that counts in the length.

That boat is a beauty, congrats on the new ride! The Tristar is giving me Dale Earnhardt vibes.

Boat people - any thoughts on what could be wrong with my buddy's Mercury Pro XS 115? It starts, idles fine and runs up to about 1500rpm but once you get up on plane it just stumbles out and dies. It did this before and the high pressure fuel pump was replaced under warranty and the motor ran fine for around 5-10 hours. The motor is a 2020 with 36 hours now. The problems made us cut short a fishing vacation so we're a little salty now.

Could still be your high pressure pump. You may want to get access to a fuel pressure tester and see what the nominal PSI is.

If it's not that, given how new the engine is (and I'm not condemning it on the spot, but I've seen it happen before) it could very well be the PCM.
