Picked up this thing today, runs but needs a carb rebuild and water pump. Got it from 5 mins down the street from me

Drove it to work today. Not sure if there is a more inefficient vehicle out there but it was fun. 20220624_064136.jpg

Finally got this thing running and in the water. We took turns driving for an hour. Stopped on a beach for a picnic. Once we packed up, I couldn’t get it to turn over. I pulled the boat about 200 yards down shore and swam it another 100 to the dock & ramp with a rope tied around my waist.
it was fun while it lasted. Sending it to the shop for a new ignition (I bent the key up pretty good) and a look over on the carbs.

That three-cylinder Evinrude, in all its various iterations, is the best boat motor ever made. It's the Toyota Corolla of boat motors. I've had three of them and they are built like tanks. They'll get it fixed.

I'd say the 115 hp Suzuki is the best boat motor ever made. I've had 2 over the last 17 years and they never need to be fixed!

Yes, I too am impressed by the Suzuki outboard line, except for their low-density dealer network and the availability of parts. But if it never breaks down...

A friend of mine was a dealer for years. It was running a little rough one year too I called him. He said, "Change the spark plugs, that's the only thing those motors ever need." He was right. lol

Headed out for the 3rd out of the last 4 weekends for a morning ski. Normally have a ski in the water by 830 or 9 and am off the water by noon to avoid the weekend crowds

My Dad couldn’t help but point out that my absolute peak old man truck doesn’t match the boat at all this morning

Finally tried out my slalom ski the other day. Got up without much problem and rode around for a bit. In no way did I feel comfortable trying to carve though. The lake I'm on is usually pretty choppy by the time I'm out, just end up going straight to surfing. I know, sacralidge to surf behind a ski boat... :jerkoff:IMG_20220719_095931_697.jpg

I had the wakeboard out this afternoon after the wind picked up so to hell with tradition.

The river I’m on is only 4-10 feet deep in most parts so it keeps the really big surf boats off since there isn’t enough depth to throw a big enough wave for surf. Lots of old school skiers and barefooters out in the morning here

1975 Thundercraft 160SS "Magnum." I'm not sure what the Magnum means but it's a neat little boat that looks good in the water. Original 1975 Evinrude 70 runs well. Next steps: New flooring, install seats & new cushions for the bow.
