I’m on the Rock and run up towards Roscoe regularly. I’ll run up to Monona in Madison to run the slalom course from time to time too.

    Where are you at?

I’m on the Rock also. South of you. I’m about 40-45 mins from the Iowa border. Spend most of my boating time on the Mississippi.

Tied off the tiller and had the boat sailing itself for a while. Got to just sit at the bow and watch the water go by. that was really nice
    upload_2022-7-28_12-39-4.jpg

A little evening sail with some whiskey the night before (long exposure on a moving boat with an iphone is not that easy.)
    upload_2022-7-28_12-39-54.jpg

The following week, we went out friday evening, not a single storm in the forecast whatsoever...and this shit blew up 45 min after we set off lol. I dont have an anemometer, but the 1 reef point the main has was NOT enough. Probably sustained 25+, gusting higher. boat was surfing down the 3' waves on a beam reach. My gf was steering, then we turned down wind and were still surfing through a mooring field under the 80% head sail while my buddy and i wrestled the main down and got the dock lines going and motor in the water (just as a back up, in that kind of weather the outboard is literally useless and you have to sail it). What a riveting evening. Pic just before it got grey and the lightning started lol

ah, Key West! Such fond memories! I spent a summer there working on a couple of live aboard schooners (Jolly ll Rover and Grand Nellie). Such an incredible time. Hopefully ill make it back down there with my own boat one day.
