Show us your Camper Shell for DCLB

My Z-series is leaking badly at the sides of the bottom of the rear window. Really just a poor install. Had they put water on it they would have seen it immediately, and hopefully they would have fixed it. So it's going back to the dealer. Who I have emailed. And who has yet to respond...

Actually, if the rear window opening on the Z-series and the CX-Revo-series are the same (and I think they are) then there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get the CX rear window as an option on a Z. Other than I have found ARE to be less than thrilled to be talking to an actual consumer about anything, especially anything technical about their caps and always want to immediately foist me off on my local distributor to obtain the answers. This industry does not soar with the eagles for a reason.

 

Thanks for pointing out the new ARE top Tony! I’m actually on my way this morning to order a top and will be asking a lot of questions about this one. I really like the looks of this topper even though I have a Leer 100xr spec’d out.

 

They have black. It is runnier than silicone and if you ever plan on taking it off, use 4200. Sometimes on boats, the first layer of fiberglass pulls off instead of the bond breaking.

 

I ended up trading in my truck before I got around to this install. Thank you though, good knowledge for future.

Last one is more for fun..that was right after we out the white Tacoma out of a mud flat down in Baja...

 

My used topper came with roof racks adding by drilling through the top. I dealt with leaking for awhile, then finally took it apart and put as much silicone around the bolts as I could and that did the trick. At first, I was cussing the person who would drill through the shell but in retrospect, leaks can be prevented. I have heard a marine type sealant is best as you can touch it up if for some reason you need to remove the racks. Silicone is more set it and leave it or you will be redoing he whole job.

 

After shopping for craigslist for way too long, I finally pulled the trigger on a shell. Leer 180, windoors. Super exited!!

Yeah i want to install a drawer setup also, but as of right now, I think I am cutoff!! Only had it 3 months, spent a pretty penny installing extra stuff! Still waiting on the dual camera setup and tailgate lock system, but after that I am done for a while, time to fish!!

 

I feel ya. I lied to the wife when I bought mine. Swore there would be no mods........I stopped keeping track so I don't have to lie anymore when she asks what I'm up to

 

What lift? Sits great

 

I went with the Teraflex Falcon Setup. 1.25" rear, 2.5" front. Love the setup, and rears are adjustable from firm to soft depending on your load.

 

Might be worth finding one, I have lad three different brands and would not go back now that I have a SnugTop
