26inches is measured from the shortest possible configuration. Like if my "brace" is in the fully collapsed position.

Here's my 300 blackout. Probably my favorite gun I've built.

some say you need to remove the brace and measure from the end of the tube. Of course tubes will vary is size depending on manufacture. Again, I don't believe there is any hard and fast rule on these things, and all we can go by is referencing letters from "the man". And these letters don't equate to law, so really it's going to be a crap shoot on the individual BATF agent measuring your particular device. Hopefully this will never actually have to happen to any of us though.

How we describe the need for gun builds is very important when it comes to confusing the wives.

Rule number one: A rifle always trumps a handgun.

That said, I have promised myself and my family that I would never be in a position where I did not have the option to go armed. A "get home" rifle is not a war tool, rather a survival tool. It is to be kept close at hand. It is one of many which I surround myself, in order to ensure I always have the option to address both the need to feed my family, as well as defend my family. It is a tool and nothing more; one of many a Ready Man keeps close at hand.

I am not a prepper. I am an trained war fighter and informed realist. I recognize that in time of conflict, social norms go out the window. In those conditions, the baser man is concerned with family and tribe. It was pretty amazing to watch our normally socially conscious society arm itself as if it were the end of days over the last three months. People who would normally sit on the sideline and condemn the armed community as demons have decided to go arm themselves.

I refer back to Rule number one, and I ask, how do you prepare when the SHTF to get home?

Right up until the rifle goes tits up and that little Asian guy with the AK wants to put holes in you. Then a 1911A1 trumps the rifle.

I will never trust my live or those I love to an M-16/AR-15 platform again.

.....rifle goes down, then I transition to hand gun, deal with the threat and then fix my rifle .... like I said .... I go prepared.

Except since the extractor tore the head off the shell and left the body in the chamber then tried to stuff another one in that rifle needed an armorer. Oh and there were no broken shell extractors yet.

I went back to an M-14 and was just happy as a clam. My go to rifle is a Springfield Scout Squad.
