I took bottom part of knob off by pulling and rocking back and forth and it snaps off. Its glued on a little .No need to glue back on . Its snaps back on.
I made a adapter so don't have to cut any thing. Only thing it sits higher than XeddeXs one.
I like how his one sits lower .I might remove adapter I made and cut lower part off a little so it sits lower. If not making adapter. no need to remove bottom .But removing it makes it easier to see how much of bottom needs to be cut off.
I didn't try to cut bottom off and removing adapter I made so not sure if it will screw on with out modifying. But from what I did and see Im pretty sure it will just screw on if you cut some of the bottom piece off. Will try and see tomorrow if I have time.

    Hope this helps.

this came out fantastic. the height looks to be the proper height and the knob is a subtle upgrade. looks really sharp.

i love the feel of cold metal and leather :D

hemitruk: Aloha brah....I'll be in HI next week and staying thru Xmas. My in-law are in Mililani.

Thanks for the compliments hemitruk and b373 !!

To sum it up, I test fitted the Tundra TRD knob and found that I'm unable to move the shifter thru the shift gate if the knob was screwed down all the way. So I took a belt sander to it and started sanding down the bottom....then test fit.....then sand...then test fit, etc.

As you can see, comparing my Tundra knob to hemitruck, I had to remove about 3/4" to 1" off the bottom. The vast majority of the TRD knob is plastic/nylon even though it has that nice metal looking finish.

Lastly, because there is a "curve" to the shift gate (convex/bubbles out), you won't be able to have the base of the shift knob sit completely on the shift gate. Or else you won't be able to shift from Parking to Low, etc.

If anyone wants additional photos or details, just PM me. Thanks!
