Show us your truck bed sleeping platform/drawer/storage systems

sure there are compromises one has to just wait and see (some reviews). It's a cool concept. I like the idea that you could use it on various trucks as needed. I don't expect it to be dust proof or 100% rain/water proof ... but for hunting trips etc it could maybe do the trick good enough.

 

Spent the weekend building a new bed platform.
This is my second one, some alterations I made to it over my previous one are; reduced weight, single drawer, one inch taller, and cubby in the back for gear.
I used some 1/8 aluminum to make some cross supports so it doesn't sag, it helps but it's not as sturdy as my old one, but still strong enough to support me if I have to crawl across it.
It's right around 100lbs with the fridge slide, I think my old one was near 150lbs with no fridge slide.

Also built a removable fridge/water cooler slide to go on top of it, just waiting for the slides to show up tomorrow. Then in the spring I will give it a proper paint job.
I'll use T Nuts so I can quickly bolt/unbolt it.

 

Finished my fridge slide.
Decided to buy some birch plywood instead of having it made out of scrap wood.
Pretty happy with how it turned out, finally no more struggling to get stuff out of there. Plus it's nice to have my water cooler on a nice mount so I can use it easier.

 

Taking advantage of the early spring and borrowing some inspiration from this thread. Woodworking skill is slowly getting better and I'm happy with how it's going so far. Still need to put hatches in the main body and finish but it's 1000x better than what I had in years previous.

for some reason of all of the ones I've seen this one screams of "sold as pieces you put together" you should think about a business where you ship all the panels to someone and they put it all together. its awesome IMO.

 

Not to be harsh but it sounds like a non profit pain in the ass to me.

Consider the option of a good color-matched vinyl wrap for that. I could say, "There's an app for that," but in the case of a wrap, look for a good app-licator company. Maximum Exposure Wraps at my location...

 

Thanks! It's always nice to hear others are into it as well. A little self-vindication for the design choices. That said, not interested in trying to sell it but if you have any questions let me know.

 

Those that have ran a water tank in the front of the bed, did it work out well? I am drawing up designs with a 5-8 gal tank up front, but I'm concerned filling the tank will become frustrating having to crawl through the bed to do so. I've thought about running PVC from the rear up to the tank to make it a little easier.

 

You can also do either a saddle tank over the hump or flat upright against the rear cab wall. Front runner makes both and I believe they are ~10 gallons each.

 

Thanks. I just looked, I actually like the thin tank meant to go against the cab wall, but instead place it along side the drawers in the bed near the tailgate for easy access. At 2.5in thick it should easily fit and wouldn't be hard to make a mount for it there.

 

Do you happen to have a blueprint for this build?

 

Hi everyone, Just finished my bed platform over the weekend. Anyone in here have a 5 foot bed and can recommend a mattress for on top of my platform? Everything I am seeing is for the long bed. I wasn't a fan of the long beds personally and I am able to fit in the bed no problem. Just need something that wont break the bank as its only going to be used a few times in the summer for now.

I think they list some recs on their site about a tri fold or quad fold for around $100 but want to confirm as the measurements on the linked Amazon product don’t make sense to me

What I do is get a High Pile carpet remnant and several layers of carpet pad. FIll the whole space and you have more than six feet corner to corner. Won't slip around if your a flopper. Could even staple it to make it attached.
