Several pages back a couple of people were asking about how to lift and lower the tailgate from inside. The easiest way I've found, without putting a footman's loop or something on the tailgate were it would generally be in the way, is to put a 1" river strap around the tailgate with the buckle on top of the tailgate. It allows you to easily close it from inside or lower it without dropping it or having it snatch you out the back. Initially I thought about securing a length of webbing under the tailgate cap but the cover pieces are screwed into plastic anchors, not very strong.

Have you tried the D ring idea yet? The Torx head screws (#16) that hold the tailgate cover on are screwed into plastic inserts (#15) in the tailgate that don't strike me as particularly strong. Pull the cover off once or twice and you'll need to replace the inserts. I also didn't want anything on the tailgate where I sit, cook, load junk, etc. (I have a piece of HDPE plastic covering my tailgate cover to act as a flat surface).

RedArc dual battery system, AluCab canopy, Prinsu rack fore and aft Planned: Mobtown recovery bar and full steel skids, light bar on rack and BD amber fog replacements, ham radio and antennae, SPOD system, 12 gallon water tank integrated with bed drawer system
Crosspost from Gen 3 thread - Finished my bed drawer and slider system today. Fuse block in the passenger side cubby is wired for air compressor, water pump and lighting systems. I’ll install the 12 gallon water tank and pump and the air compressor and tank next. All fits forward of the bulkhead that houses the drawer slides. Quick disconnect ports for air and water will reside on a panel the left of the drawers.

Or behind one of the cable diconnects so it's removable when not camping or replace one of the plastic backings with a nutsert.

Has anyone thought of or built their platform and drawer system out of UHMWPE?

I am looking at making the whole thing out of it. I am still doing some research into it to see how sturdy it is compared to some of the wood products. Plus if I get the recycled stuff it is black all the way through so no painting or touchup needed. May hold up better to hauling stuff and being nicked and what not than wood. Looking for some insight and people with more experience with it than me. I know trail toys is making gas tank skids out of it.
