lol. In that case, maybe just stick with the cheaper ones. I suspect a Warn or Superwinch will be double/triple the amount
I am not sure of your set up but, may not be able to fit the new one in your current control box, I would find a protected place to mount it and go to NAPA to find at least 4ga wire to use or 2ga if you want a bit better amp protection.

 

They're just using amsteel line (which is on the table as an option). I'm not too concerned about the fairlead at this point in time. it was just a comment on a fairlead upgrade down the road for my next bumper.

Anyone running a Badland winch? They're on sale for like $280 or something but I figured that was cheap for a winch. I'd rather pay more for quality than cheap out the first time around. Just figured I'd check and see how sturdy they may be.

 

Interested as well, I was also looking at the superwinch tiger shark rated at 9,500lbs and cost 349.99 off Amazon and eBay.

 

I had to pull myself up a gnarly hill with several ledges after I blew my driveshaft a couple weekends ago. I have the superwinch tigershark, and it performed beautifully, even without using my snatch block.

 

What yours rated at? I remember you have to go with a winch that's rated twice your vehicles weight right? I'm waiting on buying one because I want new UCAs #priorities

Ive been reading up on the Superwinch Tigershark here the last couple of days. It sounds like a real sturdy unit. That may be the one I go with if I decide to get one. It'd be nice to have but a majority of offroading I do is usually during hunting season. I just haven't completely made my mind up yet. Thanks!

 

Most forums and people I know say you should go with a winch rated at 1.5x your GVWR instead of 2x your current weight. The numbers end up close but often on trucks the GVWR estimate is a better reflection of your truck loaded to the nines because your hauling back your buddies beer or whatever lol.

Great location for the contactor.

 

I'm sure it's a sealed unit, but I still wanted it in a nice and dry location. Settled there for the time being after trying a few different spots. Plus it'll make running in cab winch control wires easy with the firewall hole right there.

 

No doubt, very smart.

 

Can anybody help me out and tell me what size hole I need in my bumper for either a Warn Hawse fairlead or a Factor 55 fairlead.

 

If you do not have the cutout in your bumper the best thing you can do is decide on one of them and order it to get the proper dimensions. There would be nothing worse than have a larger hole than needed on your front bumper.
With that being said, the warn dimensions are 13 x 4.2 x 3.2 inches and the bolt holes(3/8 bolt) are 10 inches on center. Good luck.

 

I am. It's worked well for me. I really like the wireless remote too.
I'm a pretty cheap bastard but I'd rather spend $100 well than $20 poorly.
I've always seen good reviews on the Badlands and a friend recommended them personally. That helped my decision and I haven't regretted it yet.

 

Not mentioned much in this on/off thread, but anybody have input on the US OffRoad bumper with the Viper or Engo winches?

FWIW I get into more mud than rocks, though they do get in the way occasionally.
